Overview & Reviews
The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.
- Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
- Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

Better than a Lexus & More Affordable - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Maude1015 - February 8 - 10:00 amThis is a superior vehicle. It has the styling of a very expensive vehicle. The back seat is the roomiest Ive ever been in and it is quiet, comfortable and drives like a dream! If you have not driven one, you are really missing out!

My Experience - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Howard - February 2 - 7:23 pmI have found that this SUV is very comfortable (I am 64"). Plenty of head and leg room, even I can fit in the backseat without sitting sideways. Very smooth ride, the car drives itself. Radio is confusing but the sound is great. Rear view is a negative. Its like a looking through a tunnel. For safety I put in a "Lane Changer" Mirror (cost 8 bucks). I have to get use to a smaller gas tank. (Use to 22 gal vs the 16 gal). Engine responds very smoothly but you have to watch your speed when you going 60 it feels like 30. Gas pedal is very touchy. The low end model does not come with a cargo net (cost $104) bought a generic one for $6 and does just as well. Limited cargo space.

Disappointed - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By azdolls - February 1 - 10:00 amFind the 185 hp engine much too weak. Poor start from stop, noisy. Much todo about front seat folding flat but the rear seats do not thus an uneven floor. Nice ride, does well once under way. Very good on the freeway. Presently only 2700 mile on car but gas mileage is awful-15/22, a long way from touted 19/25. Clever rear storage arrangement but space over wheel wells is way underutilized.

Very Good Purchase - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Luvn It - January 22 - 11:36 pmThe next generation SUV. We love the leather, heated seats. The radio controls are easy to use on the wheel and on the stereo. Love the bass. The power/torque this vehicle has is fabulous. I have the same engine in my Venture, but this is geared so much better. Electronic steering and transmission are amazing. Cruise is so much better than on the traditional mechanical transmission. 17" wheels make this SUV look so much better than the standard 16". All of my friends love it also.

Sad Equinox customer - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Tara - January 1 - 11:16 amWhen I bought my Equinox, I was very satisfied but in the past couple of months I have had nothing but problems which the dealership and Chevrolet refuse to recognize as problems. I have been nothing but unsatisfied with Chevrolet for the past couple of month. The gas mileage does not even get what it is rated at.

No More RAV4 for me. - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Tim2004 - December 26 - 10:00 amI was looking for something new to trade in my underpowered Toyota RAV4 on, maybe even a Highlander. A friend suggested this new vehicle from Chevy. Chevy? Well, I took a look and was very impressed by the look, ride and quality. I was sold.

1st Chevy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By paul - December 21 - 2:16 pmDrove my son to college, couldnt fit everything, roof guard rails not too functional, window controls in awkward area. If using emergency brake must remove item in cup holders. Lousy steering, clunking noise in front. Engine serviced 3 times and cant fix it. Exhaust noisy when first starting the car. Seats uncomfotable, head rests slanted. Visibility through rear view mirror poor. Dash board cheap looking. Compared to my Ford Escape 2003 (same price point) not even close. Wont buy another Chevy
