This Year's Model Updates:

The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.

Pros:
  • Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

  • A Bit Disappointing - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The turning ratio on this vehicle is awful. The interior design to operate windows and exterior windows is awkward. The fuel mileage is terrible; we are so surprised that we got hoodwinked into buying this vehicle using a beautiful Cadillac as a tradein. What a ripoff; were contemplating unloading it prior to the smartbuy expiration.

  • good job chevy. could be better. - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

bought this vehicle 10 june, and so far so good. like this vehicle more than the rav4 i test drove because of size and v6 power. toyota had it beat by far in terms of interior material quality. likes-v6 power, leather seats, exterior styling, stereo system dislikes-interior material quality (especially the dashboard) firm seats. overall i am happy with my purchase.

  • My Equinox is great. - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

For a small SUV, this is one great vehicle. Prior to owning the Equinox, I had a Tahoe. The Equinox is much more fun to drive and had more leg room in the rear. I would highly recommend this vehicle.

  • Love this car! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I love this car! It is a lot of fun to drive and is all the room I need. I like the flexability it offers with the second seat moving and the shelf in the rear compartment. I take that in and out as I need to. Love that feature. Gives me extra traveling space. I do not like the lack of space to store thgs from the drivers vantage. Wish it had more pockets. The flat passenger front seat is not anythg I wold use and wish instead there was a pocket there for storage. I miss having clothes hangers in the second seat. Having them in the rear compartment is not helpful to me. I still pinch myslf when I get into this car! It has been wonderful!

  • I probably will trade it in - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

My sharp LT has many upgrades and I was thrilled when I bought it. Unfortunately, I have had several problems with it; it probably would have been wise for Chevrolet to buy it back from me after the first or second problem to maintain brand loyalty. It has been back to the shop for electrical problems, a mystery problem with the catalytic converter and, most recently, it could not maintain power to get out of the parking lot at work (a 5% grade on dry pavement). It recovered spontaneously the next morning, but that did not help me get home! I have not yet taken it to the shop for an investigation of this latest problem, but it struck out as far as Im concerned. I cannot recommend it.

  • Love it so far! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I test drove a FWD LT w/16" rims in red. In my opinion the Galaxy silver AWD w/17in rims has a much better feel and a far better look.I am still getting used to people in other cars tapping their passengers and pointing at my car, and taking second looks. A very nice driving experience.

  • Chevy Equinox- Curb Appeal? - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the first SUV that I have owned. I went from a Cadillac Fleetwood, which I have been driving for the last 21 years, to this car. Although this car does not have the same ride as the Caddy, it has a smooth ride. I opted not to take the OnStar, because I felt I did not need this feature. While I miss the little things, such as climate control, passenger power seats, power antenna, soundproofing, I love the roomy interior, leather seats, panoramic windows, and gas mileage. I love sitting higher, and the seats are contoured, and comfortable. I have a moonroof. It handles much better than the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Liberty that I use for work.

  • Good First Vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Good visibility. Fairly tight turning radius. MP3 CD player is a sanity saver. Acceleration is a bit sluggish. Automatic headlights good. Interior dome light can be turned off in sub-optimal situations. One-off wipers excellent feature. In winter, heater warms up quickly. Easy to enter and exit with driver/front passenger doors partially open. Real mileage is 20mpg. Cargo area high enough to not require bending to place and remove items.

  • Fun in Southington - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Its a fun vehicle to drive. Its got great handling and good acceleration. The radio has great sound and I love the fact that it tells you the songs that are playing. So far the gas mileage isnt as good as I thought it would be. Im hoping as time goes by, it will improve. All in all I love it, and would definitely recommend it.

I had a 2001 Suburban which is a top notch vehicle but I did not need an 8 passenger vehicle for only 1 person (or 2 at the most)..plus the issue of costing $50 to fill up every week. We ended up with a salsa red front wheel drive LT with leather..I totally agree that leather makes a huge difference in the comfort factor. I am anxious to see what kind of mileage it gets as I only have 75 miles on it. So far, this car exceeds my expections in almost every area!
