Overview & Reviews
The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.
- Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
- Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

Whatever - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By R - January 22 - 2:26 pmI bought this new and have 55000 miles on it so far. Tires wear out faster on the front than the rear. It bucks the crosswinds a lot. It has a lot of front end noises and rattles going over rough pavement. Dealer says sway bar links could be the problem, Ill try replacing those, but I think its in the steering (knuckle)? Cant do better than 23 miles per gallon on hwy. Small gas tank. Knock on Wood.

Critique - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By J. Pritchett - January 13 - 12:00 pmEquinox has good styling but limited visibility when driving due to back seat headrests. Has long turning ratio, which is not good. Noticable when parking. No glove box light, cannot see in at night. Cowls have more vinyl covering the interior, dash and door panels.

A little iffy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Steph - January 13 - 3:36 amHave had the Equinox for 6 mths. I am very satisfied with the comfort and room in the interior. The only problem, the seats stain really bad when rain gets on them. The exterior is beautiful. Other than the bumpers fading, its great. As far as the vehicle itself, I am very unsatisfied. Been in the shop several times and never found a problem. Have problems starting it sometimes, check engine light comes on almost everyday. I went from a 2000 Protege to this, a brand new car, and would much rather have my old car back, never had any problems.

is okay to drive - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By m.diaz - January 12 - 11:40 pmFun, very easy to park, excellent to drive on extreme weather. The only thing that the designer has to improve is the windshield area, when it snows you get a lot of acumulation there, you actually have to stop and clean the snow to continue driving safely.

Smart Buy is right! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By brs - January 11 - 4:43 amA very solid SUV! I have plenty of legroom and headroom in front and back and Im 64. It feels very roomy. Im getting over 21 mpg so far, thanks to the 5 speed automatic, very cool. The engine is fairly quiet, and accelerates the vehicle fine. The ride is comfortable for an SUV, not too soft and not too hard. Steering is different, no way to describe it, nothing bad, just different. Stereo is average, the XM satellite is neat, but i will not renew once the 3 free months are up. Its just not worth the money. I love the compass and temperature display in the rearview mirror. This should be a standard feature in all vehicles. The 17 inch wheels look really sharp. I have had no problems at all so far

1st and last Chevy Ill ever own - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Shadefly - January 5 - 6:36 pmThis car has been a great dissapointment since we bought it. It had a window leak it took the dealer 4 times to fix, gas mileage is 25% lower than sticker (only to find out there was a brake cylinder stuck when we replace the brakes at 60k, dealer never discovered it or attempted to fix poor gas mileage), the alarm dings for no apparent reason and wont shut off, even with car running or key out (again dealers in Tx and TN could/would not fix), satellite radio goes to static in and around cities, even with clear view of sky. Just to name a few of the problems weve had with no resolution from the dealers or Chevy. What a piece of junk. Should have bought the Escape.

Just Bought - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Sheryle - January 2 - 5:56 pmHaving survived a 45 mph crash that took off the front end of my 2002 Tracker, I can say that the Equinox feels very superior on the road. I agree that there are a lot of blind spots. Spot mirrors on the outside mirrors as well as putting the passenger rear seat down will help. Not smoker friendly! Ashtrays optional. Although I need to quit, I would like the option of an ashtray to store change if I do :-)

Well worth the money! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By chigh0394 - December 31 - 11:10 pmExcellent buy for the money. Very well rounded. Has all the advantages of both the large and the small SUV classes. Has only one safety glich, and that is the rear headrests get in the way of the view to the back corners of the vehicle, but is compensated for by larger than expected driver and passenger mirrors. All in all a great buy.

Fun for Trip - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By KMarrero - December 29 - 11:13 amWe first saw the car at the LA Auto Show. Both my husband and I loved it! We both automatically agreed on the Lazer Blue Metallic as this is a very unusual color. We drove it over Easter weekend up to Northern California and were very impressed with its long distance fuel economy and its very smooth ride. We get a lot of stares because of the color, but we dont mind. We enjoy the car and our son thinks this SUV "Rocks".

Misleading - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Annette Smith - December 19 - 9:10 pmI purchased this vehicle because I needed a car with good gas mileage. I am a teacher and was going back to school for my masters. I went to the dealership where I had bought my other two Chevrolets. They showed me the Equinox, I drove it, and bought it. I did so because the information on the side window said it had a 16.7 gallon gas tank and it got 19 miles in the city and 25 on the highway. After having it 2 weeks I called them and said I didnt think something was right with the gas. They told me to wait and it would get better. It has not! When I talked to them after Christmas they said there was nothing that could be done. They said the stickers can sometimes be misleading!
