This Year's Model Updates:

The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.

Pros:
  • Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

  • HATE THIS CAR - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This thing is the worst car I have EVER owned. In the shop - ignition sticks from time to time, and the dealer told me to just deal with it - it will start. NEVER again will I buy a GM product - quality and service have been seriously lacking. Had to replace front struts with less than 40000 miles. American companies wonder why we buy foreign - this car is a prime example of why. Even my interior is junk - peeling radio dials and an interior that stains if you drop water on it. I would never recommend to anyone to buy this piece of junk!

We really like our Equinox. The sliding and recling rear seat is great as well as the adjustable tray in the cargo area. It handles nicely, the steering is particularly nice making driving on tight corners a breeze. We have had a great deal of compliments on the outside appearance which is nice. We have had a couple of different people tell us it resembles the Lexus suv.

We just purchased our New LT FWD Equinox Jan 31, came right off the truck, still with the wrappers. MFG date: 1/05. Equipped with Sunroof and Leather. After 650 miles and about 1 month I am happy to report no problems. I looked it over, top and bottom, and was impressed with the paint, build, fit and finish. It is a nice looking vehicle. My wife loves it. Ive driven it in the rain and snow. Im impressed with the ride, handling, and acceleration. Transmission is smooth and responsive. Wife and I love the vehicle and its universal features.

I just picked mine up today. I love the ride it gives! I bought the base model because of my tight budget. $17,888! Nothing else came close. And as for the interior, finally the Americans outdid the imports.

I fell in love with the styling of this car and its versatility. Larger and more powerful than a CRV or a RAV 4, yet smaller and nimbler than the larger SUVs. I originally bought it because I needed to tow a boat, but because I live in DC I didnt want anything too large. I was a little skeptical about Chevy reliability, but this truck has proven to be a trusty sidekick. It pulled my boat with ease. It has good interior space for moving household goods, and the AWD provides peace of mind in bad weather conditions. I can proudly say I love my Equinox.

  • Over 30,000 miles, Nox still runs Great! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have a loaded 2005 FWD LT, with leather, we bought in January 05. Currently has 33,000 miles. We bought this as a family cruiser and as a universal work horse. Has 3500lb towing capablity. Not many SUVs in this class and price can claim that! Still have the original brakes & tires, which stops smooth. Had no problems, very reliable, handles nice, good performance, nice shifting trans, & great brakes. I also have two boys 7 & 13yrs, that ride in it all the time with my wife. Leather cleans up nice. She loves the Equinox. We had no problems, get advertised fuel economy, looks great, runs great, & still drives nice!

  • Nice. But what were they thinking - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

This has a lot of everything for a smaller SUV. I owned a Ford Escape; very strong vehicle, but the Chevy Equinox has more consistent power and is a very smooth riding vehicle. Outside design is sharp, interior design is modern, very comfortable. The only two complaints I have so far are the location of the parking brake and the center console (very poor design); seems like they ran out of room and just jammed them both together. It becomes a PITA, plus the fabric of the seats are weak - seems like over time they will wear extremely fast.

  • First Test Drive - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Took one out for a test drive today. Handling and performance is good. Nice quiet ride and has adequate power for on ramp merges, passing and climbing hills, at least without a load. Im just over 6 tall and found it had plenty of room for the driver and passengers. Hard seats, did I say hard seats, and poor support. No extensions on sun visors. Narrow rear cargo space. Floor not level with seats down.

fun to drive radio a bit confusing back seat hard but handles smooth ride.

  • My Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have only had my car for a month but I really like it so far. It handles a little rough but compared to others I took for a test drive it was the best. I would recommend this car to my friends.
