This Year's Model Updates:

The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.

Pros:
  • Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

  • Needs Some Improvement - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have owned this vehicle for almost 3 years and 85K miles. Overall, I been pleased so far. I like the ride and the stylish exterior. Things I dont like: I have had the radio/CD player replaced 6 times, sometimes I have problems with it starting (its never actually not started just a little hesitant), silver interior on doors and around radio chipping off, awkward placement of cupholders, gas mileage not what I was expecting, small gas tank, and placement of window controls. Ive decided to keep and see how long it will lasts since its almost paid for. Overall, a good car for the money, but could definitely use some improvement.

I love my New SUV. I have driven it back and forth to Florida 3 times since purchasing 3 months ago (1000 miles round trip) It does well on interstate. Only Problem I have had, is I went from a small sports car to this and I am not used to feeling the wind move me on the street.

  • Like vehicle, hate MPG - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I researched and reviewed this vehicle for close to a year, reading everything I could find on it, then waited and waited until it was available to purchase. VERY disappointed with gas mileage, since that was one of the most important things to me. I have the LT FWD, and got 21.5 on a trip last summer. Get about 15 around the small town where I live. I really like everything else about the vehicle, but the mileage figures are a joke! Also, the head rests on back seat hindered vision until I figured out how to remove them.

  • I Enjoy my Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Only have 5,000 miles on this vehicle to date but I enjoy driving it. I was disappointed with gas mileage; highway driving is only giving me 20-21 miles per gallon.

Like the power and response. Radio is difficult, but not important. Cup holder in front cannot be used with emergency brake up, doesnt fit. Also, windshield is lower than the moulding around it, so when you are trying to clean the windshield with the wipers, it can only push(snow) so far and then it piles up so you cannot see, especially on the drivers side. Seats are manual, which doesnt really matter except you can only go front and back, whereas a short person like myself needs it to go up.

  • Excellent Family Car - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Great car for Mom & Dad and 1.5 kids, plenty of room in the back seat to avoid kicking daddy on those long boring trips to grandmas house. Dont expect super gas milage for those around the town errands but will hold its own on the open road. Fantastic engine will have you leaving BMWs and Mercedes eating your dust when the traffic lights turn green. Buy it you wont be disappointed !

  • Great Ride - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

The Equinox is great on gas. Coming out of a Blazer I feel like I ride forever before filling up again. With automatic 4-wheel drive I no longer worry about when is the right time to engage 4-wheel drive, although it takes some getting used to the first few times it kicks in. My only complaint - the headrests on the back seat are too high, making it difficult to see out of the rear window.

  • So far so good - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Good Value. Purchased the dark silver metallic LS AWD. Love the look of the Equinox. It uses as much gas at my V6 Ford Explorer that I traded in for it. Thought gas mileage would be a little better but it is not bad. The car is very practical and pretty. Seat padding could be better but not bad. Has good leg room in back. Deep tint glass is nice to have. I am happy overall with the Equinox.
