Overview & Reviews
The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.
- Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
- Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

Was red in color-should have been YELLOW - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Mike - June 19 - 2:12 pmBought this on 2/7/09, traded on 6/14/09. Worse care I ever bought. HAd less than 50,000 miles when I bought it and 6 weeks after purchase was hit with a $2700 repair bill. Dealership said sorry, but nothing we can do for you. I know it was a used car but this was ridiculous. Anyone considering an Equinox...think again. Traded for a 2003 Santa Fe GLS with more miles. Runs better and looks better.

Held up well in accident - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By kmcknight - June 13 - 11:14 amI was recently in an accident where the other vehicle ran a stop light and I couldnt do anything except T-bone him. It was a perpendicular hit between the two vehicles and my car held up amazing. It will be totaled but there was no intrusion into the passenger compt. the airbags went off as they should the seatbelt performed its job. I was able to walk away with minor injuries youd expect from a hit of that caliber. If Id been driving anything smaller I would not have been as lucky. Also, I was getting 23-24mpg non highway as my daily driver.

Finally, a nice change of pace for Chevy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Eric S. - May 31 - 11:00 amIn general, the vehicle performs well and has a car-like ride, however, there are some bothersome characteristices: below average gas mileage vs. sticker-a 2005 model should perform better-look at the mileage of an Accord; poor turning radius-a lot of backups required; wind noise on the drivers side, but passenger side OK-dealer says that is the way all Equinox are, but that doesnt make it right. Lacks some little touches like grab handles inside the front doors to help you in, sun visors are too short to completely block the sun-had to fabricate makeshift extenders out of cardboard, but on long trips, you need it. In general, a very nice, stylish vehicles that gets some second looks.

Honest Opinion - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Roger - May 22 - 4:36 pmI enjoy this vehicle very much. Use it to drive to work in DC. Do not like the gas mileage I am getting to this point. Only have 1500 miles on it. Very stylish, easy to drive, and interior room is outstanding. Am getting 11-12 mpg all city and only got 17 on very short interstate trip (60 miles or so) Have not yet seen any of the coolant hose problems that some had written about. Pretty nice vehicle for the money, just needs few tweaks.

My 2005 Equinox Problems - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Mike from Buffalo - May 22 - 1:12 pmI bought my 05 Equinox used in 2007 with 25000 miles on it. The first problem I had with it was the ignition. The key would get stuck. Took back to dealer and they fixed it. Second thing was water in spare tire well. Rear hatch gasket was leaking. Paid $200 to have gasket & rug padding replaced. So for no more leaks. Third had rust on inside body of both rear doors. Took to dealer to show collision shop guy. He said hes never seen that rust problem on any other Equinox. Drivers side sun visor wont stay in position when its down to block the sun, obstructs your view. I have to prop it up. Now Ive got a creaking noise in front steering when I make a right turn. Who knows what will be next

By Tacquard - May 16 - 1:50 amThis vehicle is comfortable, economical, and provides plenty of room for us, our two pets and the paraphernalia they need when we travel distances and for a period of time. We are more and more happy with our choice.

Good Car - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By bryan - May 15 - 11:53 amBought this SUV used a year ago, and I have had no issues at all. I am in the military stationed in NY, and I drive to VA about every four months. Great for long trips. Good fuel economy. Great everyday driving car. Only issue I have had is battery placement.

Build Quality Questionable - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By DB - May 13 - 11:00 pmThe engine is just adequate for this size of SUV, and its performance is great so far. The dashboard design is okay but did not follow any ergonomics principles. The worst things are the locations of the power window switches and the gear shift display. The audio controls are horrible and you might want to get handle mounted controls. The stereo system itself is great. Right now the back door makes a terrible loud squeaking noise, which is a built in defect, and you have to push it hard to close the back doors.

Love It !!! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By stanley4 - May 13 - 10:00 amLove the look and the feel. Wipers a bit confusing. Overall absolutely love it. The room in the back is great. The adjustible back seat helps with getting my children in and out. The interior is beautiful. The cargo room is good with carrying diaper bags and strollers and toys. Great truck.
