This Year's Model Updates:

The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.

Pros:
  • Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

  • Surprising! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This is like no other Chevy SUV that Ive seen. I guess theyve realized that people do care about their cars being stylish. Ive had groups of 5 on several occastions for short journeys and everyone compliments the comfort, room and ride. The engine is quite responsive considering its horsepower rating. The versatility of the interior features is impressive. Focusing more on the center console for window buttons and gear information will take some getting used too.

This is my first SUV and Ive done extensive research prior to buying. I love this SUV. It handles like a car. I can see clearly in the front and the back. The front seat does amazing things, and with my children its perfect. Chevy definitely hit it right on target with this truck. The only thing I dont like is the gas mileage.

So far my Equinox has been a great purchase. However, if you drive in the city the head rest on the back seats create a horrible blind spot. I had to get the dealer to remove them so I could see. Also, I dont find that the air conditioner cools that well. I thought something was wrong with it, but the dealer checked it and said it was fine. Ive had better cooling cars. Its a comfortable SUV to ride in. It has the look of an SUV, but it drives like a car.

This is my first 4 door car. I have always had sport cars. It has been a delight to have room to carry so much. The size is good for women, not hard to handle or to get into. The only trouble so far has been a recall for a hose to be replaced on the cooling system. A water leak from my sun roof was coming into my lights above the mirror on the dash. That was corrected when the hose was fixed. I told other people about how much fun it is to drive. A close friend of mine got one because she liked mine so much. My husband was not crazy about getting it & giving up a sports car, but now thinks it has been his favorite one to drive. The first time I saw Equionx was on ithe nternet, and I did research before test driving it.

  • Nice on the outside, but ... - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We have had our Equinox for about 3 months now. We bought it because it had a great look, great safety ratings, and decent "advertised" fuel economy. All of our expectations have been met except for the fuel economy, which has been very poor. For the first 3000 miles (mostly suburban driving), we have averaged 17.6 miles per gallon. We have a GM mini-van with the same engine that averages 21 mpg in the same driving conditions. The advertised EPA fuel economy for the Equinox was 19 city and 25 highway. Other than that issue, it is a beautiful vehicle that drives well. The overall quality seems to be good. The interior (the dashboard and seats), though, is a bit bland.

It is a good looking small SUV. It is comfortable and easy to drive. The tracking is excellent. Power is adequate and gas mileage is fair. Many people think Im driving a Luxus. The side view is nicer than the Lexus and costs about $11 thousand less. I would recommend the Equinox to anyone.

I love this car! It is a lot of fun to drive, there is plenty of storage space, my friends love the backseat legroom, and the shelving system in the back is awesome!

Drives and rides nice. Like the back seat room and ease of entering and exiting the rear seat. The electric assist power steering is nice. Overall a nice vehicle to have.

When I bought my Equinox, I was very satisfied but in the past couple of months I have had nothing but problems which the dealership and Chevrolet refuse to recognize as problems. I have been nothing but unsatisfied with Chevrolet for the past couple of month. The gas mileage does not even get what it is rated at.

I purchased a 05 Equinox LT in may 04. I was initially going to buy a Kia Sorento but went with the Equinox after getting a great deal. The model I bought came with 6 cd- indash, 7 speakers w/amp, onstar, and everything else I wanted. It rides great, with the exception of over speed bumps, handles great too. the rear seats are roomy enough for 3 boys (including one thats 62"/220 lbs), there is plenty of leg room. The ride is very quiet and sturdy. no major complaints.
