This Year's Model Updates:

Indigo Blue is added to the exterior palette. A CD player is made standard on the LS Sedan and Z24 Coupe. The Z24 Convertible has vanished from the lineup.

Pros:
  • Affordably priced, roomy enough for a family of four, Z24 is a stylish and speedy low-buck sport coupe.
Cons:
  • You get what you pay for in terms of comfort and convenience, Z24 Convertible no longer available, poor build quality.

  • Dont do it - 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

I owned one of these until the transmission died while I was going down the highway at 60 mph. The transmission had never been good, the car had also had a problem with the starter. When it was new it was in the shop every other week getting another problem fixed. It is cheaply built. While the engine did make it to 170k, it didnt do so reliably. If all of Chevys new cars are built like this Cavalier was, I wont ever buy Chevy cars again.

Ive had this car for five months and needed to replace the head gasket and coolant system. The car has run warmer than it should since I got it, and just recently finally decided to overheat. This car is only at 51,000 miles. Keep searching for other cars!

its funny, when I read about the problems people have with this car, I just smile and nod, cause I have them too. Way too many of them, after 80k, rattling everywhere, cracked dash, water pump needed changed(expensive), now strut mounts need to be changed, cause of horrific squeeking, at highway speeds the driver door makes a noise as if the window wasnt all the way up, a/c had to be repaired, ..... Im afraid to drive this car, whats going to break next? And this car isnt that old yet.

This car is fairly quick & comfortable. Transmission makes horrible noises(GM refuses to repair) front struts rattle, Sunroof drainhole (RH front) plugged causing wet roof liner, flaking paint around gas cap (when brand new) LH power mirror quit adjusting, Loud whistle from sunroof at highway speeds, radiator reservoir cap broke, sqeaks, rattles everywhere, engine runs hot when idling(rad fan rarely comes on)

I do not have a happy report about this model. back to the dealer a total of fifteen (15) times, Ive had my driver door serviced for loud noises, ignition switch & lock replaced,AC serviced twice, battery replaced for leaking acid, check ingine light stayed on for days,my theft deterent system had to be reprogrammed, the coil had to be replaced, going 70mph on the highway the car just shut off on me (and this happened twice), fuel pump had to be replaced, cd had to be replaced. I never know when Im gonna stall on the highway driving this vehicle.
