Overview & Reviews
Chevy's pint-sized Aveo gets a few changes for 2006. Safety is improved thanks to standard side airbags, new dual-stage front airbags and longer-length rear seatbelts. Other updates include new options like alloy wheels and cruise control, a retuned suspension for better steering response, and tilt-adjustable front headrests. The Aveo's engine has also been tweaked to meet the ULEV-II emissions standard this year.
- Low price, nimble handling, ample headroom, logical control layout, loads of cargo room in hatchback models, standard side airbags.

Its a mini-car. - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Zippy - March 4 - 12:10 amWhen gas went up, wife and I bought the yellow LT hatch. We wanted sunroof, ABS and fog lamps. We couldnt find one with all 3, so we settled w/ sunroof and ABS. We got the 5S since this engine needs every gear. Its cramped and underpowered but handles like a skate. With the back seat folded, the hatch has plenty of space. Its a very good commuter. South Korea has built a quality package for Chevy.

Oi-Vey-Oh - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Garibaldi - December 4 - 8:04 pmRolling my 1998 Contour SVT put a new car in my life last January. Not a Sentra Spec V, which didnt charm, instead I went for the Aveo SVM 5 door. This car is so stripped, I expected to find a pull cord wrapped around the crank pulley. It took two days and one 45 mph offramp to realize the cheesy Kumho tires wouldnt do. Serious interneting got me 17" wheels and tires that transformed the handling. Gas mileage isnt stupendous at 27 mpg overall, but its decent. Build quality is all that can be expected for a sub $10k car: its tight, quiet, fast, and quick. Oddly, the Aveo is a great over the road stormer. With a 6yr/100k bumper to bumper GM warranty, Im worry free until 2012. Not bad.

Inexpensive but not cheap - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Joseph P. Passaretti - November 21 - 10:13 amThe ride in this car is surprisingly comfortable for around town. My son (Saturn owner) says that you cant feel the speed because you are sitting higher and the visibility is good. The acceleration is acceptable for the little 1.6 liter engine. The gas mileage seems to be improving from the start at 19 mpg to now 22 mpg although I only have a little over 1000 miles on her. The shape and color (yellow) grows on you and is easier to spot in the parking lot. I find that I can fit at least the same amount of sundries in my Aveo as I had in my Oldsmobile Intrigue with the exception of the Oldmobile could seat 5. Yes I am happy with my choice of the Chevy Aveo and would recommend this car.

Hot Rod - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Richie - November 9 - 4:28 pmThis is a great car for the money. I own a Honda CRV which gets about only 25mpg. The Aveo gets 33 mpg consistently and has more pep and is easier to manuever. So far no mechanical problems whatsoever and we are very happy with it. Its great both in stop and go traffic and on the long haul rides. I had the oil changed at 3500 miles by the dealer and nothing else had to be done to it. great car.

Great small GM car - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By nathan - October 28 - 8:23 pmThis is my first new car, and it is absolutely great! It has excellent handling, is incredibly easy to park, and people are constantly amazed at how much room the interior has. At first the manual transmission was a little rubbery, but after 9000 miles it has broken in nicely and shifts much better. Absolutely no maintenance problems whatsoever. The car actually seems to be holding up well in Michigan on a dirt road (our normal roads are also pretty nasty). Good ride, definitely easy to push through the curves. Too bad GM cant figure out how to make something similar in America, or without stealing from Daewoo, though.

Value, Fun, Good Mileage - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Rammer - September 22 - 3:57 pmI use my new Aveo hatch 5 speed for both work and personal use. I am getting close to my first oil change, and have been very pleased with my car. Good pick up, great mileage if you can keep from exceeding the speed limit. Design - basic, clean, and it works. Its a head turner for a small car. No long trips yet, but I know if I keep at double nickels, the mileage is great, so I sacrifice some time and get to smell some roses.

What we wanted - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By anotherchevy - September 11 - 9:14 pmHave had for about a month. Already have over 3000 miles on it. Bought for a third car to drive long distance commute to save on gas. The car is what we expected for a $9000 car. It runs, goes down the road well, is great on gas and is a tin can. Plain Jane and we like it.

Glad I Didnt Buy a Fit - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Rhonda - September 10 - 12:29 pmI did it. After months of readings reviews and comparing similar vehicles, for me the Aveo offered the most car and extras for the best price. I purchased a model that had all of the extras as a package straight from the manufacturer. For those of you caught up in the import hype, I suggest that you strongly check out this vehicle and give an American automaker a chance. I traded in my 2004 Subaru Outback and do not regret it one bit. I am hoping my Aveo will be ever the realiable vehicle that our current 2005 Chevy Silverado has been.

Great Little Car! - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Debbie - September 7 - 9:04 pmThis is a nice little car. It handles very well, is reliable, and decent on gas. The interior is clean and attractive. It could be a little bit more comfortable. The headrest and the stiffness of the seats were awkward at first. Also, it is difficult to adjust the air/heat controls when drinks are in the cup holders. The exterior of the car is very appealing though (I have silver). For the right price, its a good deal. Although, I have seen some, (new), that were a bit excessively priced for what you actually get. Shop around.
