This Year's Model Updates:

Chevy's pint-sized Aveo gets a few changes for 2006. Safety is improved thanks to standard side airbags, new dual-stage front airbags and longer-length rear seatbelts. Other updates include new options like alloy wheels and cruise control, a retuned suspension for better steering response, and tilt-adjustable front headrests. The Aveo's engine has also been tweaked to meet the ULEV-II emissions standard this year.

Pros:
  • Low price, nimble handling, ample headroom, logical control layout, loads of cargo room in hatchback models, standard side airbags.
Cons:

  • Glad I Didnt Buy a Fit - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

I did it. After months of readings reviews and comparing similar vehicles, for me the Aveo offered the most car and extras for the best price. I purchased a model that had all of the extras as a package straight from the manufacturer. For those of you caught up in the import hype, I suggest that you strongly check out this vehicle and give an American automaker a chance. I traded in my 2004 Subaru Outback and do not regret it one bit. I am hoping my Aveo will be ever the realiable vehicle that our current 2005 Chevy Silverado has been.

  • By Far the Best Buy for the Buck - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

This is a great little car. Peppy, plenty of room, and 5-speed with cruise control! Ice cold A/C. Sure footed and fast on the freeway, and plenty of interior room for two 6 foot adults with passengers in the rear. Properly configured it can swallow some pretty large objects for hauling through the rear hatch (large TVs, a vertical tank air compressor on its side, etc.).

After comparing many different makes and models I finally settled on the Aveo. And it has not disappointed. I use my car for both personal and business uses, so I wanted good fuel economy(dont we all!) and interior room. I can honestly say that my Aveo is a better overall car and value than the 2007 Hyundai Accent and 2006 Kia Rio that I also tested and compared. The steering and suspension is tight and responsive. The engine is only rated at 103HP (lower than both the accent and rio) but it has good torque (especially from 1st to 2nd gear) to get you up to speed. Overall the cars performance and drive is better than I expected from a car of this size.

  • Aveo Fun - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

This car has been so fun to drive. Its small and sporty, yet surprisingly roomy inside. Great gas mileage, which is nice since gas prices are so high. It cools off quickly, which is nice because Im in a warm/humid climate. Easy to park and turn. And I love the keyless entry.

  • Fun to drive - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

Love my Aveo. Getting 33 mpg going to and from work (very little stop and go driving). Love the way it handles. Pretty good power for a small car. About the only things I dont like are the coffee mug holders (block the radio and heater) and bad visibility (blind spots) from the rear window. Why are they making all these cars with tiny rear windows? Course, I love small cars. Just upgraded from my Metro and I love being able to pass without fear of falling behind the car Im trying to pass.

  • 2006 Chevrolet Aveo SVM Manual Hatchback - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

I was going to wait a month after purchase to rate this car, but I feel I have driven it enough to comment. This vehicle has so far met and surpassed all my expectations. The sheet metal folds around the doors, hood, and hatch are all sealed (Something $34,000+ Dodge Chargers dont even have). The hatch shuts with VW like quality (No slamming necessary). This car is fun to drive and doesnt take long to get up to speed (Once you get going you barely have to give it gas). Im really surprised by some of the negative comments I have seen regarding this car. Its a much better deal than the Yaris Liftback or Scion Xa, neither of which looks half as good inside or out.

  • Whoa, Gas Prices.. - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

Well bought this for my 18 year old to get her Drivers Lic. We love driving it and if you are nice you get very good gas mileage. We have gotten 30 in the city. If you are bad and drive it hard you will get 22 - 25 MPG.

  • Aveo is great - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

Looked into a lot of cars for comfort, fuel economy, and the sort.. The Aveo has got it all . Amazing room for a larger person. Comfotatble seats that match Toyota and the beyond, due to the fact the seats and car sit high off the ground. It feels like youre driving a minivan or small truck. Almazing car...I get 41 mies a gallon highway in 5th gear....38.5 miles in town. The base radio is kinda wimpy but who keeps their base radio anyhow? This car is totally worth $9900 base!

  • Awsome for the price - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

Awsome little car, I drive 100 miles a day, 3000 miles on the car so far 35.5 MPG is my best mileage so far. Its the perfect little car for someone that doesnt want to pay a fortune, but wants good mileage. No it doesnt perform like a Vette, because its not one. Its just what I paid for a small, cute, affordable, economic, basic little car. Not to mention that it fits in almost any parking space, and can do a U-Turn anywhere. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for the same.

  • Cheap, Comfortable, and Nice choices - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

First, its an economy car so most people try to compare it to a sports car. Dont, because its the best car for its type. That is, for under 8,000 you get a car thats roomy and more comfortable than most compacts. The warrenty is great and so is the cost. Insurance is also cheap. I am quite tall and I find it very easy to get in and out of. The seats are next to perfect and fit awesome. Sure its only 103 horsepower, but with the stick its quite zippy. The hatch idea is terrific because I can fit anything in this lil puppy. I drive it everyplace and enjoy the fact the gas gauge hardly moves! Im more an automatic guy but for basic transportation for this price you cant beat it. Excellent!
