Overview & Reviews
The Avalanche gets numerous interior upgrades for '03 in addition to the midyear introduction of a "decladded" version that does without the oft-derided extensive lower body trim. Dual-zone climate control is now standard equipment on all models along with multistage airbags and a passenger airbag sensor. A redesigned instrument panel houses a more comprehensive driver information display; and an optional multifunction steering wheel puts climate, radio and trip computer controls right in the palm of your hands. New entertainment options include a Bose stereo system, XM Satellite Radio and a rear passenger DVD video system. Other new options include the StabiliTrak stability control system on 2WD half-ton models, adjustable pedals, and a fully automatic multizone climate control system.
- Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
- Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

Just plain awesome - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
By RandyMoodispaugh - October 5 - 10:00 amThe overall vehicle is just plain awesome. With the rear locking differential I have had no problems during even the heaviest snow storms.

This vehicles is AWESOME! - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
By New Avalanche Owner! - July 28 - 10:00 amI purchased my Avalanche about a week ago, and I have loved it ever since. It is everything that the brochures say it is; a very versatile, accomodating, comfortable SUV that I can drive to work during the week and load up with all kinds of stuff on the weekends (like mulch, lumber, my Great Dane, etc.)! I only wish I had a longer commute to work; when I finally get there, I find myself wanting to keep driving!!

One Great Truck - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
By BBlueAV - April 17 - 10:00 amWe needed a truck and a sedan. Looked at extended cab pickups; however, there was not enough room. Looked at some club cab pickups....they were ok. Then, the Avalanche. What a wonderful concept. The wife was not crazy about the cladded version; however, one look at the WBH (without body hardware) and we were hooked. Drives great, Smooth. Quiet. Nice full-time 4wd system. And, when you need the room, just take out the window, put the mid-gate down, and your off. Best vehicle Ive ever owned!

satisfied customer - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Danno - February 28 - 10:00 amI have a 7 yr, 5 yr, 7 month year old and my wife has a baby on the way. I had some GM card rebate so I looked at every GM car that sat 6+ passengers. I have always had trucks so wanted a bed if possible. I didnt even look at the Avalanche at first because I always thought it was ugly and didnt even consider it. I looked at TrailBlazer, 4 door Silverado, Venture, and Tahoe. Luckily my rep convinced me to look at it....loved it and never looked back. For you parents out there.....what sealed the deal was the airbag sensor in the front seats - 4 door trucks like Silverado dont have it - so its safe for kids in the front seat of the Avalanche.

style and practical - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
By denz66trk - January 26 - 2:00 amI love the truck. It looks great in black. You will stand out in a crowd. It rides like a dream. And this is coming from a Navigator owner. All the bells and whistles of the Navi but with better road handling. I If you like trucks there is no better full size truck on the road for the money.

What a Vehicle - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Hockeydad - January 21 - 2:00 amGreat driving, truck but yet drives like a car. Can haul dirt and still have a full size crew cab for people. Appearance grows on you quickly. Add DVD player and kids are happy and you can cruise.
