The North Face package is no longer offered, but an electronic stability control system is now available as part of the Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension package. Hydroboost brakes are now standard on all 1500 series Avalanches and the optional 8.1-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.

  I love it and I would buy another one. I drove it from California to North Carolina and felt so comfortable. The heated seats were great! I love the satalite radio and having Onstar made me feel very safe.

  Purchased the Avalanche z71 on May03. Love every minute of owning this truck. I love the design (even though it may be controversial) and the versatility. Fuel mileage is on par with other trucks of its class, so it does get good mileage compare to other full size trucks. As a truck, the ride is exceptionally comfortable, handling is good for a vehicle this size, and interior features are quite nice. As an SUV, however, the interior is quite spartan compared to other SUVs. But then again, this is not a SUV, nor is it really a truck. That is the beauty of the Avalanche!

  I bought my first one in June of 2002, I lived it so much that I traded it for a 2004 which I ordered from the manufacturer. There were some options in 2002 that I wanted that were not offered (ie: dual zone heating 6cd in dash changer and steering wheel controls) These are now being offered and have been since 2003 this fact and the great new color sport met. red mask my new Avalanche the best vehicle I have ever owned.

  After leasing a 1999 Chevy Tahoe I was pleasntly surprised to find out I didnt have to give up any comfort or performance when I moved UP to a Avalanche. Now I can Hall some dirty stuff if I need to without ruining my interrior.
