The North Face package is no longer offered, but an electronic stability control system is now available as part of the Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension package. Hydroboost brakes are now standard on all 1500 series Avalanches and the optional 8.1-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.

  Just purchased it and took on trip of 2000 mi. Loved the comfort, handling and looks. I have owned pickups, Cadillacs and other GM autos and this is by far the best vechicle I have owned. It has as smooth and quiet ride as any vehicle I have owned. This is the first 4WD I have owned, yet the ride is unbelievable.

  I have had my Z 66 for 9 months and almost 16000 miles and it is superb. Only one small problem with a rear end bearing, otherwise flawless. XM is great. Ride is super. Towing is very good. Utiliy and versatility are 11 on a 1 to 10 scale. I just cannot say enough good things about it.

  This is the best vehical for my needs , for a do it yourselfer and having a comfortable ride for my familey not like a truck

  This is the ultimate toy. Able to go from a cool looking SUV to a working truck in less than a minute. So easy that one person can do it. Looks like a radical truck but rides like an expensive car.

  This is the second truck I have owned new and it is more than any other truck on the market. They are not kidding when they say it isnt an SUV but a UUV. It has the ability to do what ever I need it to from hauling my camper or 4 wheeler to hauling an entertainment in a monsoon and keep it dry all the way to the door. As far as summer fun it is great drop out the back window roll down the windows and run the dunes and hills. BEST TRUCK EVER.

  For the past 10 months I have had no problems what so ever with my Avalanche. The comfort is unsurpassable the ride is as good as my wifes Jag S type. This is my first truck and rest assured not my last. It is incredable in the snow.

  The first avalanche I purchased was a Z66 2002, and another one, a Z71 2002, Kept the Z66 for 26 months with 34000 miles, traded for a 2004 Z66, plan to trade the Z71 soon for a 2005 Z71. I am 71 years and have driven Fords most of my life, The last Ford I had was a 2001 4X4 super crew at the time I purchased the first avalanche, six months later I traded for the Z71
