This Year's Model Updates:

The Avalanche gets numerous interior upgrades for '03 in addition to the midyear introduction of a "decladded" version that does without the oft-derided extensive lower body trim. Dual-zone climate control is now standard equipment on all models along with multistage airbags and a passenger airbag sensor. A redesigned instrument panel houses a more comprehensive driver information display; and an optional multifunction steering wheel puts climate, radio and trip computer controls right in the palm of your hands. New entertainment options include a Bose stereo system, XM Satellite Radio and a rear passenger DVD video system. Other new options include the StabiliTrak stability control system on 2WD half-ton models, adjustable pedals, and a fully automatic multizone climate control system.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

I bought the "without body hardware" model and what a nice change it is! This has so far been one of the nicest riding, running, and looking vehicles I have ever owned. So far absolutely no problems with my Avalanche. Great dealer service and honest advice.

  • Wonderful Truck, Happy Owner - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

This vehicle is a homeowners dream come tru. Functions as a very nice comfortable car most of the time, but you can move a refrigerator or haul trash to the dump if you need to. Go to "chevyavalanchefunclub" on the web to find more than 8000 happy owners. Thats the best site for all sorts of Avalanche info. I would recommend this truck to anyone. Best turning radius of any crew cab, shortest wheelbase, longest bed of any crewcab except duelies. Parks like a car!

Chevy did EVERTHING right on this baby. Positioning of the controls, comfort, lotsa interior room & it rides and handles so smooth its like driving a car, has full sized truck bed space and the design lets it stand out from any truck on the road.

From a 2001 Explorer XLS to a 2002 Trailblazer LS to the 2003 Z71 Avalanche, I feel like I have arrived at the top of the mountain. It rides like my wifes 2003 Tahoe LT and can haul a lot more. I need to haul samples, literature, & displays as well as clients. I pull a loaded trailer occasionaly and I can hardly tell its there.

Just bought my Avalanche (AV). Full function buckets are awesome Ride package is better than any other truck I have had in the past (Dodge, Chevy, Ford). Convenience package is great (O/S mirrors are good choice, adjustable pedals for the wife are a big hit as well! Appearance is sharpened dramitically without the body hardware! With the Z66 package, the truck sits up nicely (17" rims/tires). Engine provides ample power.

I finally bought the truck after following the model since I saw it on a poster in the dealership in 2000. I love the truck and I am not disappointed in any feature of this truck. It handles great, look even better and is extremely versatile. I recommend this truck to anyone.

A great combinaton of SUV and pickup all wrapped up into one. A truck that rides like a car on the highway and has all the features of comfort of a car put into a truck package.

  • 03 Avalanche - Soooo Fun! - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

Our Avalanche came with the WBH option (Without Body Hardware). We decided that less is more in this case because the body hardware, also called side cladding, on the Avalanche is an awful lot of extra surface area to Armor- All. Our vehicle is a dark charcoal, and looks very coordinated with the windows tinted (Las Vegas weather). This truck/SUV is fantastic. It is beautiful, rides very smoothly, rides high for excellent freeway visibility, is very quiet, and is extremely powerful, even with the 1500 5.3 litre engine!

  • Outstanding so far! - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

Have had the truck since Spring and really have grown to love it! Smooth ride and good looks. Took our camper out west and had no problems going through the mountains - as expected. While towing got between 13 & 14 mpg through the mountains - not great, but I knew what I was getting when I purchased! One minor flaw in the truck portion which the dealer fixed easily.

  • My Wife loves it - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

I purcahsed this vehicle for my wife and she loves it. So does my 24 year old daughter. So much so that she is going to buy one too. We love everything about this vehicle. Gas mileage is about you should expect for a vehicle this size. It really turns heads everywhere we go, including mine, I cant stop looking at it. If anyone is thinking of buying a full size crew cab truck, I would strongly suggest taking a look at this vehicle.
