This Year's Model Updates:

The Chevy Avalanche truck rumbles into 2006 with minor changes only. These include a new design for the Avalanche's optional mirrors (last year's camper-style heated mirrors have been dropped in favor of a new folding and extending heated design) and a standard compass built into the rearview mirror. Stability control and a tire-pressure monitoring system are now standard on all models.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability, comfortable daily driver.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, fewer drivetrain choices than comparable trucks.

I run my truck pretty hard high speed and for long periods and over the years I have averaged over 17 mpg highway and city combined, I have even pulled small trailers and the gas mileage was still good, Im going to purchase another Avalanche soon this will make my third one and am very satisfied with the overall performance.

This is my second Avalanche. The first one had some serious problems. I traded it and got a new one. This one had problems when I first got it, but once the kink got out of it, its been great.

  • My AV - 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche
    By -

I bought my 2006 Avalanche for 3000 dollars below what I would have to spend for a Tahoe base version, go figure. In my AV (Avalanche) I have the Z66 premium onroad package, tow, posi, stainless side assist, and more options than I thought, still 3000 below the BASE Tahoe. I love the ride, the driving position, the fact that I can take 3 or 4 clients with no problem. Gas mileage? Check back with me later. Ill be running Mobil One 5w30, a K&N Air filter, higher tire pressure(+2lbs) and Ill keep my foot out of it. If you need a broad, stable, and comfortable ride I can suggest an AV.

This vehicle is a top notch 4x4. It has taken me through some very severe driving conditions. Its a very easy vehicle to drive with 4x4 at the push of a button and mirrors that adjust to your driving needs. Its easy to judge because there are no features that block your vision when merging into oncoming traffic. I was told these vehicles leak. I have had my truck for 5 months and that has never been a problem. This was my dream truck and I can honestly say I am not been disappointed with any feature it has. My thanks to Chevrolet for making a fantastic sporty 4x4 that is reliable, safe, and fun, people compliment my truck everywhere I go. It has been a great investment.

  • I love my new Avalanche - 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche

I knew the second I started the engine and pulled away from the dealership that this was the truck for me. It is so stylish and eyecatching. Big, beautiful and red. It is so quiet and comfortable I can not say enough nice things about it, only one negative, it seems so wide and hard to parrellel park. I can not wait to take it out on a long haul with my horses attached and finally feel some comfort with style.
