This thing is the worst car I could have bought. Air doesnt work, leaks oil, radiator fan doesnt work, climate control not working and it only has 87,000 miles. JUNK!

  • Know where to buy parts in case - 1998 Cadillac Catera

Personally I loved my catera, but found that 20 mpg average for a 3.0 sucks, Cadillac parts are very expensive, and things like to break easily and often. Starting with parts, DO NOT buy from dealership, a front lower control arm will run $472, a radiator $500, etc. Always go on ebay and search for the parts you need or look online. I found a front lower control arm for $100 on ebay with 22k miles and a radiator on radiatorexpress.com for $125. P.s I love this car but am into massive subs MTX 9500s and had them in my car but the BOSE system cannot be replaced with aftermarket unless you have the entire audio system rewired, or use a rca interface like me with bad bass levels.

  • Great interior,unreliable engine area - 2001 Cadillac Catera

My husband and I purchased this car 6 months ago. We have since then had the spoiler fall off (without the dealer taking ownership of this) the headlights are already clouded, replaced the front tires, and these are not inexpensive over $200 each. We have also replaced the idle arm, the coolant leaked behind the engine and only one place to get the part, and not inexpensive to fix, We paid 6000. However have in 6 months put in 2600 in repairs. whats next? The car handles great in the winter with over 6" of snow, no complaints there, its just the maintenance is not what we paid for and for the Cadillac name this is very disappointing. Wish we would have read up on it more. Buyer beware.

The car looks great, drives great and has gives me excellent gas mileage. The engine should have more pep. The engine should run a bit more quietly.

  • Still perfect after 100,000 miles - 2001 Cadillac Catera

This has been a great car and a real bargain. Mine was purchased as a low mileage certified car and is still flawless after over 100k miles driven over some very rough Detroit freeways. I have every option including sunroof, factory chrome wheels, rear sunshade, and Bose system...and every thing works. The dealer has replaced small items like the headlights under warranty and has done a good job of normal maintenance without ever overcharging or suggesting unnecessary service [Ive owned a BMW 6 Series that always needed expensive service]. The ride is firm enough without being harsh...good even over Detroits rough roads, and the steering is still tight. MPG = 28 highway at 75 MPH+

Bought for my son in college. Nice looking car but expensive to keep up. Parts are hard to find.

Two weeks after I bought the car I found out the heat on the passenger side didnt work. went to get it fixed needed to replace valve cover gaskets bcuz of oil in the spark plugs $1,000. Rear caliper went out over $400 to fix, regulator in rear windows went out $800 for parts alone, short in electrical system moon roof opens and closes when it wants to. Radio and interior lights only work when key is in off position. All of the screws on the entire car have fallen out (i.e. the backs of the seats have fallen off the front bumper had to be re-screwed on the fog lights have fallen out some sort of blower has fallen out, the screws allowing the glove box to open and close has broken) contd next box

Well Im 16 years old and I drive a 00 white Cadillac Catera. I love it everything about it is good. I wish they still made the Cateras. When i told everyone i was getting a caddy they all assumed it was going to be a big boat. But of course its not, its a great size and has a lot of room in it. Its very good for being a 2000.

I bought this car used with 127000km for $5000 in 2007. This car has been fantastic for me as I drive it 1000km a week commuting. Very comfortable for long trips, excellent on the highway, being very powerful and smooth. It will cruise along at 130kmh all day without getting tired. The only mechanical failure I have had was a blown rear shock. Engine wise,it has been strong as an ox and not let me down. For a small Cadillac, I find this car extremely roomy, and twice as roomy as my fathers Lincoln LS. So far, this has been a wonderful car in every sense of the word. Good looking, reliable, comfortable, practical and yes, even fun! Do you wonder what a 22 yr old is doing driving a Cadillac?
