Excellent Machine - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By Luxury Dream Machine - August 24 - 1:04 amAlthough, the interior has mechanical issues those who are complaining about cost do not buy a Mercedes Benz or BMW after all its German made. Foreign parts are expensive but I love it & I dont care how much I have to pay. My motto is if you treat it right. It will treat you right. IF you hate this you will hate a 98 ford Contour. I have 181,000 miles on it & it does not drive or sound smooth like the catera. My wife & I are spoiled with the catera. So do not buy this car for looks. Buy it for responsibility. Dont worry about what people say form your own opinions. I would rather have a German machine than an American made machine. They tend to fall apart after it reaches 180,000 miles.

Expensive Blessing - 2001 Cadillac Catera
By Travis Lww - August 22 - 4:43 pmI bought this Cadillac very inexpensive with 112,000 miles and it was nearly perfect for a year. It is a NICE car! It is definitely the nicest car Ive ever owned but it has taught me how to be a mechanic. I had some problems with Actuator motor on the AC, automatic levelers, ticking noise caused by me pinching a wire going to the hazard lights. It took me forever to figure that one out. Recently Motor went bad at 137,000 miles after a timing belt broke. Interference motor, terrible idea. I bought the updated replacement motor. Hoping it will be around a long time now. Still love the car and its been worth the money. My biggest advice is by the DEALER manuals and work on it.

Not a real Cadillac - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By dcv - August 22 - 9:15 amThe car drives like a dream, however, the check engine light will not go off. No one can find the problem. The rear middle seat belt locks and cannot be used. The gas mileage is horrible. A new fuel pump at 70K cost me $917. If you try to run anything except premium fuel, you will find yourself in a world of hurt. My advice is to buy a real Cadillac (Deville, for example). Better mileage, better service. Cadillac needs to stand behind this product and make it right. I sure wish I had bought a Deville!

Well balnced vehicle comfort/performance - 1998 Cadillac Catera
By hushsh - August 15 - 10:14 amI have had the car a short time and had no problems so far. I am typically a European car driver and it feels the way I like it to. Solid handling (like to turn off the traction control and go with sport mode) I had the same problem with the water on the floor, it was a very simple fix anyone can do. It is the drain in front of the passenger side for the air intake. You have to remove the plastic grate just behind the hood there is a basin underneath that has a drain at the bottom that (leaves and stuff get caught down there, the water fills up and spills in the fresh air intake) other then that it has been great

My first Cadillac - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By MY FIRST CADILLAC - August 14 - 12:43 pmThis car has been a dream to have. I have been through a lot of cars but this car takes the cake. I get a lot of offers from people to buy my car. it handles the road great. Its a eye catcher for sure. Ive never seen a Catera like mine. Before purchasing this car Catera was the last thing on my mind to drive. When the salesman showed me the car and I test drove it I was in heaven. It have 62,000 miles on it in April of 2008 which sweetens the whole deal. Authentic Cadillac rag top. Maroon with 17" chrome Cadillac rims. Sunroof with OnStar. The only thing this car lacks is a spoiler they but if you ask me i think the spoiler lacks the car. Im forever committed to Cadillacs. CTS-V HERE I COME!

The Money Pit - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By Charlie - July 18 - 1:08 pmSince the purchase, this car has broken down once a month. Each time we take it to the dealer (usually via tow truck) the repair costs range between $1500.00 & $2000.00 We bought it for $22,000.00 in 2000 and have spent $16,300.00 in repairs since. GM will not even talk to us about this car, and parts are now hard to get. This is by far the worst car we have ever owned. We looked around to see what they are selling for now, and see that top dollar is $3000.00. We are donating it to the Kidney Foundation, and the tax receipt deduction for our income tax will be more than what we can sell the car for!

problem after problem - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By Charles Fields - July 4 - 12:57 pmCadillac should be sued for making a piece of crap like this. I own a 2000 catera, and it stalls out at random. The rpm dont go above 1 when idling. My fuel cap censor is going haywire, my check engine censor is on the fritz as well. If Cadillac is going to keep making vehicles like this, then they need to go back to square 1 at the drawing board. Its my first car and I thought it was nice. It was nice for the fist 6 months, now its been sitting in my driveway for the last 7 months.

WORST cadillac ever to be made!!!! - 2001 Cadillac Catera
By Dustin - June 24 - 6:05 pmI have had this car since 2004 and have had nothing but problems. It had between 20 and 30k miles on it when I got it. Thought I was getting a steal at 14k. Now that Ive had it a while, I realize why it was only in production for 4 years. Since 2006, I have replaced not only 1 but 2 engines and now this one quit yesterday. There are problems with the electrical system in it. The sunroof opens and closes when it wants to, the car is definitely a lemon and Cadillac should do something to alleviate some of the cost since it was their bright idea to sell an American made car that was produced in a foreign country. All together Im at $9,000 in repair costs. And its not paid off yet.

So Sad for Cadillac - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By Kimberly - June 4 - 9:28 amBought this car used for my daughter. HUGE mistake, looks are deceiving! It wasnt enough that the salesman saw us coming and I paid nearly $3000 for what the car was worth, Ive put so much money into repairs that I could have bought myself a BMW! Two months after owning it, the trans went, then a sensor that controls the gears, then the whole dash went out, brake lights which was electrical. It was $850 for a tune up, a hose that cost $700, several electrical problem, too many to mention. I am now selling it, really cheap!!!!! And yes, Ive lost money on this car big time!

Money pit - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By jJason - May 27 - 1:19 pmI bought this car with 35,000 miles and have had it for about 7 yrs. Ive sunk so much money into, with having to repair and just general maintenance, because everything on it is so expensive. Its a wonder I never got rid of it and now I almost cant afford to. Ive had to replace the engine after it blew, the A/C and it still has problems, the cooling system because it was getting oil in it.
