Hot Rod Cadillac - The Northstar Allante was the 1st Cadillac V Model - 1993 Cadillac Allante
By gep10 - November 1 - 10:01 pmI was looking for a more comfortable weekend getaway car to replace my 1966 Corvette roadster. I bought a low mileage 1993 Northstar Florida car with a hardtop. This car is fun to drive!! It handles very well, has a comfortable ride and seats, accelerates with authority (matches a 1973 454 Corvette in the quarter mile and has a higher top speed -144 MPH) and gets decent fuel economy (24 -25 MPG highway). The exhaust note is subdued at part throttle and throaty when you get on it. The 295 HP DOHC V8 is torquey and revs aggressively to its 6500 RPM shift points. The trunk is huge, theres a large interior storage area, fine leather, power everything and a nice sounding audio system.

1993 Allante Its like a bad drug! - 1993 Cadillac Allante
By chargalant - September 7 - 11:19 pmHave had mine since Jan/2001. I knew the 93 was special w/the Northstar system. It has always been a pleasure to drive...and I drive hard and agressive and the car takes it all and askes for more. Power, handeling matches a Corvette. Styling is and always will be timeless, thanks to Pinnin Farina. I am amazed how cheaply theyre selling for these days. As much of a headache this car is, Id have sellers remorse if I got rid of it. But the cost & frequency of repair has exceeded the amount I paid for this car. Quirks abound! Yet this car will get very collectible at some point. Just dont know when. But its a Caddy w/Italian styling, power and it IS a roadster!

My Favorite Thing - 1993 Cadillac Allante
By John Edwards - February 17 - 2:42 pmIt is like a magic carpet ride. Performance is more than adequate and you will get many positive comments about its styling. With the current depressed pricing for this car, it is an excellent value for an occasionally used second or third car.

Classic look, but impractical. BEWARE! - 1993 Cadillac Allante
By goguidogo - October 27 - 10:35 amI hear that new parts for the Cadillac Allante body are out of production, and no plans are being made to produce more since so few Allantes were ever manufactured. If you buy an Allante and have any trouble with it in a wreck or with normal use, you may be out of luck when it comes to finding replacement parts for the body. The Allante is a classic beauty, but it was not a well-thought-out car. It is very impractical, and the interior pieces are of cheap plastic that do not withstand wear. The 93 Allante is the best one to own. Great power/performance! GM put the right powertrain and transaxle in it,but the car is overly-complicated and the computer systems are not reliable.

A Fun Car to Drive - 1992 Cadillac Allante
By Ken Masry - May 19 - 6:53 amI have owned my 1992 Cadillac Allante for 13 years and have enjoyed driving it since the first day I got it. It is one of the more classic body styles ever made by Cadillac and still is a beauty. Recently I discovered an alarming fact about my beautiful car, you do not want the brakes to go out in a 1992 Allante, the Bosch ABS brakes are the most expensive braking system to replace ever made, approx. $8,000. I love my Allante but that really hurt ! ! The only year this system was ever used was in the 1992 Allante, my bad luck. Other than that it has been a wonderful car and a lot of fun to drive.

Love this car! - 1991 Cadillac Allante
By Bill - August 10 - 12:57 amI purchased this car in 1997. I have pampered it, and it has met all expectations. It is a very advanced car for its year. People in traffic want to know about it. People at the gas station want to know about it. The only flaw from the factory was a slight - you can only find it if you know where to look- imperfection in the paint. I am sure that rubbing compound will remove it. Other than that, it is a terrific automobile.

Beautiful lemon - 1991 Cadillac Allante
By cbboyle - July 12 - 11:02 pmId always loved the look of this car, and finally got a very well preserved one. That was the beginning of my trouble. It was a money pit, and I finally got rid of it at a horrible loss, after endless major repair bills. The mechanics were never able to get the suspension right, to my thinking, and too much time was spent in the shop (and far too much money). The ride was too harsh (ever after replacing all four computer controlled shocks w/ OEM parts at terrific expense). This pretty much scared me off Cadillac for life. My Vette rode better, and got better mileage.

Collectable for sure! - 1993 Cadillac Allante
By William - April 4 - 4:30 pmI have had 3 Allantes since they came out, a 1987, 1990, and a 1993. The 93 is a fantastic vehicle. Its fast, fun, and great all year long. I would be happy if the car was still being built...meanwhile, it a great daily rider and a good collectable.

Excellent car for the well informed - 1991 Cadillac Allante
By GFattore - September 7 - 7:43 pmSeries II (1990.5 -1992) Allantes are the best value in a semi-exotic in the market. The Recaro seats have firm support and are not appreciated by the heavy-bummed gold-chained set. The handling improves dramatically by the fitment of contemporary tires and better brake pads. Fit and finish are exemplary. Make sure you bleed the Teves brake system annually. No Northstar, but much better interior materials than the 93 version. This is a very under-rated car and reliable if mundane Cadillac drivetrain. Buy one for the price of a used Ford, and enjoy the ride. Upgrade of sound system is mandatory.
