1998 Regal GS - 1998 Buick Regal
By vamadman - March 18 - 6:32 pmWe bought this car new in 1998 at a dealership in Phoenix and it is loaded. We liked the styling and comfort along with the sporty feeling it has. Over the years we have had to replace the alternator, plugs, wires, HVAC head, front rotors twice, blower motor and steering rack. These items are minor to me and do not sway how I feel about this classic cruiser. Love the supercharger and handling. It is in the body shop right now getting a new paint job as the water based paint from factory was peeling off on all of the horizontal surfaces. Cant wait to get our rocketship home again. It is worth putting the money into fixing as new car payments are outrageous. Great road car.

Good car, but expensive to fix - 1998 Buick Regal
By Shadow - December 2 - 12:37 pmI bought my car in 2007 and at the time of buying I did not know it had all the problems it does. I have to get the turn signal switch fixed ($700), brighter headlights ($100), sway bar (200) and an alighment ($70). And now Im having another problem where sometimes it stalls out and yesterday it wouldnt start for me and when I did get it started I had to turn off the radio and the security light was on. Many problems but an overall good car.

A fun car but just another GM - 1998 Buick Regal
By KevfromVA - July 21 - 11:16 pmExcellent power for a 6. The 3.8 super- charged combo is a great alternative to an 8. However, cheesy plastic interior components reveals GMs weak build quality of the late 90s. I bought mine w/78K miles on it and have since replaced a rear window motor and now the ac compressor is shot at 100K. A decent car to own, just get one that was serviced properly & pampered - mine wasnt.

A peach - 1998 Buick Regal
By sassa418 - November 12 - 3:11 amThis automobile has provided me with reliable and dependable service for nine years already and I will continue driving it until I am forced (for whatever reason) to trade it in! It is a handsome machine and very comfortable and easy to drive. It has also been a very economical car in that repairs have been few and far between and very minor.

Not Too Shabby! - 1998 Buick Regal
By MisterG - August 30 - 3:39 amI bought this car used with almost 42,000 miles on it. The only thing that caused problems so far is the alternator. It went south at just over 42,000 miles/6 months of ownership. I have the cloth interior (which I like). Bad cupholder and carpet is coming loose on front driver and passenger sides. Window lower moulding trim (black) is corroding and rusting (dont know why). It has be a CA car all its life. Hope to get another 100,000 miles out of it.

It Feels Like a Vette - 1998 Buick Regal
By rey - March 15 - 7:38 amGreat car. I bought this because of the power I hoped it would have and it has proved me right. The gas mileage is OK but the fun of driving the car makes it all worth it.

The car that lasts forever - 1998 Buick Regal
By Robert Standen - January 22 - 4:55 pmThis car has served my family well. For 9 years it has been extremely reliable which I wouldnt expect from a Buick. We have rarely put money into the car. The electronic displays for the heat/ac died a few yrs ago and it was over $600 to fix (we didnt) and the back inside door panels are coming off with very little backseat use. Those are my only complaints. It really is a great car.

Nagging Problems - 1998 Buick Regal
By William Rarick - January 29 - 7:31 pmLots of power and decent gas mileage. However many nagging problems. Both rear window regulators went out, $700 to fix, rear brake calipers replaced $500, Ball joints need relaced $700 more. Japanese cars I feel are much more reliable.

Good looks arent everything - 1998 Buick Regal
By Jay - November 16 - 10:42 amGreat looking car, but every winter my heater turns my lights off. Major electrical problems, plus the Dexcool builds up an oily residue in my coolant system and I have to flush every year, not every 5 like they state. Try to stay away from this car.
