Performance-oriented changes, such as more power, sporty tweaks to the steering and suspension, firmer motor mounts and the addition of a strut tower brace underhood, lead the news for the '99 Regal. Other changes include enhancements to the ABS and traction control systems, as well as the addition of a tire inflation monitor, perimeter lighting and the Concert Sound II audio system to Regal's already long list of standard equipment. New options include a self-dimming electrochromic outside rearview mirror, redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels and the eight-speaker, 220-watt Monsoon audio system. And that's all in addition to a new exterior paint color, Auburn Nightmist.

  COMPARED CAMRY, AND ACCORD. REGAL OFFERED MUCH MORE CAR, FOR A LOT LESS MONEY, AND DIDNT HAVE TO DEAL WITH AN ARROGANT HONDA DEALER. AFTER 50,000 MILES, CAR HAS BEEN GREAT, ESPECIALLY ON LONG (12HRS) TRIPS. VERY COMFORTABLE. CHANGED FROM GOODYEAR EAGLE (RIDE IS HARSHER AND NOISY) TO MICHELIN X, AND NOW ITS LIKE A LEXUS, BUT FOR $15,000 LESS CANT GO WRONG. BY THE WAY, THE REGAL HAS GRAN TOURING SUSPENSION, MAKING IT AGILE: DEFINITELY NOT A LAND BOAT, YET STILL COMFORTABLE RIDE. IF YOURE INTO MUSIC, GET THE MONSOON SOUND SYSTEM. AWESOME. BETTER SOUND IN THE CAR THAN MANY PEOPLES HOME STEREOS.

  THE MECHANICS HERE TELL ME THAT IT IS A GREAT CAR. I TRADED OUT OF A HONDA ACCORD THAT I REALLY LIKED, BUT WANTED A LARGER VEHICLE. GREAT ALL AROUND VEHICLE.

  Cheap Car, Good Value - 1999 Buick Regal

  Weve had our Regal 2 years and have had zero problems at over 36K miles. Just put gas in and the regular oil change. I had Hondas up to this point and almost died when my husband suggested a Buick. Since we bought used, it was cheap and has good performance. We live in Colorado at 7,000 feet and we have plenty of punch in the mountains. If youre considering a cost effective alternative to a Accord or Camry, I would suggest looking at the Regal.
