This Year's Model Updates:

Performance-oriented changes, such as more power, sporty tweaks to the steering and suspension, firmer motor mounts and the addition of a strut tower brace underhood, lead the news for the '99 Regal. Other changes include enhancements to the ABS and traction control systems, as well as the addition of a tire inflation monitor, perimeter lighting and the Concert Sound II audio system to Regal's already long list of standard equipment. New options include a self-dimming electrochromic outside rearview mirror, redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels and the eight-speaker, 220-watt Monsoon audio system. And that's all in addition to a new exterior paint color, Auburn Nightmist.

Pros:
  • Powerful supercharged engine, comfortable front seats, uncluttered looks.
Cons:
  • Cheap leather, no folding rear seat, uninspired interior design.

  • A car for the Regal. - 1999 Buick Regal

I love my Buick! I have owned it for 7 years and it has low mileage and runs like its new. This car has so much power. It doesnt seem like it by looking at it. the interior design is conservative, and so is the exterior design but with a sporty look to it. Unless youre driving a luxury car with a massive engine under the hood, dont race me at a stoplight. I will win.

  • Long Term Review of the Super "Sleeper" - 1999 Buick Regal

I still love this car. My #2 son fights with me to drive it. Runs great, but of course, needs maintenance care as my car ages. As of this day, I have 130,000 miles on this car, 85% highway and 15% local (all local these past 3 years). At 80,000 miles the dash lights failed. I fitted interior LED dash lights. A $15 fix, cheaper than new interior light autodim controller. Transmission failed at 110,000 miles. Drive faded into neutral and stayed there. Replaced with new tranny. Replaced old, leaky engine manifold seals. Replaced worn-out front passenger wheel assembly. No wings, no lowering. I need to be incognito, and need pothole/snow clearance!

  • Amazing value, great style too. - 1999 Buick Regal

I was shopping for mid-mileage cars and my price- range couldnt find anything I really liked, then I saw my Regal LS with 145,000 miles on it. Car drove like new and was clean inside and out, loaded with features, quiet engine with loads of power and uses regular gas. I dont need the GS (Im not racing). This car will transport 5 in style, great value better hwy mileage than Camry, better looking and bigger trunk too. The LS turned me into a Buick man, I put 6000 miles on it already and no problems so far, My family now travels in style even on a budget, if you can find a Regal LS get it!

  • A lot of bang for the buck - 1999 Buick Regal

I get so tired of Americans whining about American car quality. If you do not maintain a car properly, it wont last. The Buick Regal is a great car and I will definitely continue buying them.

Ive always like this car. Then, I read the reviews and I was convinced. My only regret is that I didnt get a GS. Rising fuel prices scared me as 93 octane is recommended, but probably would have been worth it. I was able to find a "GS looking" Regal LS with 16 inch wheels, leather, and gran touring package. Purchased with 38K miles and have put on about 10K. Only oil changes were needed thus far. Car feels tight and engine is strong. True, as others have stated, the gas mileage around town could be better. I would highly recommend this car.

  • Dependable as they get - 1999 Buick Regal

Its not the most stylish car on the planet, but I knew that going in. I bought a GS after much research led me to believe this was a very dependable car (although I found claims about the motor a bit of a stretch.) To be short - they werent. I befriended several young buick enthusiasts on the web over the next year who helped me modify the motor in several ways... eventually boosting the output to 280hp and almost 325 ft-lbs of torque. Most of those kids take theirs to tracks on the weekends - I just like to surprise people in sports cars. I love this car. I bought it at 34k miles for $12K. Now at 126k and it runs like new (very fast too!)

I purchased mine used at 12k miles, and its now at 70k. Stereo is amazing! It was my favorite car, but now "little" things are going wrong. Sometimes windows wont go down, the body control module went out - cost several hundred to fix, the ABS sensor went bad - cost another several hundred, had to have trim fixed around the windows, and now the interior display panels wont light up! I love the car, but Im starting to get fed up!

  • Bought used, new to me - 1999 Buick Regal

I love this car, and bought used w/ 41k, with oil changes and gas needed. Im disappointed in the economy on the streets, but highway driving is better . It has a smooth ride, but I kept thinking something was wrong with the tires. I get a whining noise. Also, the low tire light has started to malfunction, and it stays on even though I have tires properly inflated. The climate control display comes and goes when it feels like it. If you can overlook some minor things this is a great car. Its stylish and can be souped up just like those other cars. On the brake system, use ceramic. It doesnt need brakes, just sounds like you do. Oh yeah, great stereo system. I almost replaced it, but decided to keep it. Great sound. Id recommend this car to anyone

  • Smokin Sleeper - 1999 Buick Regal

Bought in 2002 used with 49k miles, trading it in now 05/2005 with 109k miles. Very fast car, youd never expect it and it always shocked everyone. I can be rolling 10mph, punch it and still smoke the tires. Sorry to see Buick stoped making the GS. Engine is great, no problems, oil still clear after 6,000 miles. Big drawback is fuel economy which totally stinks in city driving. But car has lots of gadgets, very comfortable, a hot rod and a luxury car combined. Monsoon stereo system is awesome.

  • My First Car - 1999 Buick Regal
    By -

I bought my 99 Regal as my first car. It has overall been a good car. The only complaints I have had are the low fuel economy (I expected much higher), and the unexpected failure of the transmission at 120k miles. My suggestion, which my friends tell me is good on any car, would be not to buy one with over 100k miles, or just get ready for problems.
