Overview & Reviews
The high-performance X5 4.6is is discontinued. The 3.0i and 4.4i receive an exterior update, as well as a new all-wheel-drive system called xDrive. A six-speed manual transmission is now standard on the 3.0i, and a six-speed automatic is standard on the 4.4i. The 4.4i also receives a new 4.4-liter engine with Valvetronic and a fully variable intake system. Both models can add Sirius Satellite Radio and Bluetooth hands-free cell phone capability as dealer-installed accessories.
- Rides and drives like a BMW sedan, multiple drivetrain choices, top safety scores, high-end cabin furnishings.
- Less interior volume than a 5 Series wagon, price goes up quickly with options, poor fuel economy in the city.

Wow! What a Ride!! - 2004 BMW X5
By RocketManWow - May 10 - 2:00 amWell, What can I say...This new BMW X5 4.8is is a Rocket. I have all the bells and whistles, and it all seemed to work fine. However, after just 3000 miles in a week, I wrapped it around a pole off of HWY 169 near Burnsville MN, I think I was exceeding the speed limit by 100 mph, or so. It was a wild ride, all the airbags appeared to work fine. Looking for car insurance now to purchase another one!!!

Safe and secure in our X5 - 2004 BMW X5
By Ballyhoo - April 19 - 2:00 amAfter reading the editors review & safety features I knew this auto would fit my expecting wife perfectly. Weve had it 3 days, she loves the style, luxury, sportiness & short tailgate. Im impressed with the handling & technical aspects. Much better fuel econ than my L. R. Discovery.

Imitated but not yet duplicated! - 2004 BMW X5
By BMW LOVER - April 16 - 2:00 amFor the $$, you get, "the smile factor". It gives you peep, comfort, safety and surefootedness in the snow AND the rain! Most of all it SCREAMS success without "trying too hard!" (Porsche, H2 and ML & G class drivers can relate.) The Range Rover is successful today BECAUSE it was REDESIGNED by BMW. Asked any BMW X5 driver and very few will complain about the practicality it lacks. X5 drivers like it because its prestigious, fast, luxurious and a blast to drive! Newer SUVs today offer nothing more but increase horsepower! Like I said, imitated but still not yet duplicated!

Take A Very, Very Long Test Drive ! - 2004 BMW X5
By Morgan Financial - April 13 - 2:00 amHorrible ride. The suspension system on this vehicle needs to be re- designed. You will feel every bump in the road from your toes up to your jaw! The back storage area is small. Also, the back seats are very cramped regarding leg room - perhaps o.k. for children and pets, but completely uncomfortable for adults. We could not get rid of this car fast enough !

BMW X5 4.4 - 2004 BMW X5
By alanmg - April 12 - 2:00 amIve now covered 5500 miles, with no problems, other than moisture appearing in the parking lights. After driving a 2000 528IA sedan for 3 years, I wasnt sure how Id feel about the switch to this SUV. After 3 days behind the wheel I was sold, and will probably never go back to a sedan again. This handles and rides like a BMW, but offers the typical function SUVs offer. Its luxurious, yet tasteful and not overdone
