This Year's Model Updates:

The 5 Series cars carry over from last year with small changes and no price increase.

Pros:
  • Sport sedan and wagon in a luxury-car package.
Cons:
  • Cheap plastic buttons for the power door lock switches are out of place in a car of this caliber, manual transmission in 540i difficult to modulate smoothly.

This car is idyllic for the performance driver that likes to go fast.

Great European sports sedan for the money. Unless youre driving the Autobahn or wide open roads of the West, the 528i gets you there plenty fast with much better gas mileage than its bigger brothers. Have owned 528s since 85 and this particular model design is their best yet.

I had the 328 convertible before "upgrading" to the 528. Loved the 328 so much I just knew that my next car would be a BMW. I had the car for a few months and had some problems with the service dept. and some suspention problems. 1st thing the cool looking brushed 17" aluminum rims had some scratches and pitting.. The dealership decided to fix this problem by painting them silver. What a joke.. They finally did the right thing and replaced the rims. After 6000 miles I am getting a rumbling noise. The tire have worn.. They tell me that this is normal. If I knew this before hand I would have never bought it with the Sport Package.

Awesome power, fun to drive, safe, good looking..what more could you ask for? Never have I regretted paying the enormous cost of the car...would do it again.

  • A Great Car - 2000 BMW 5-Series

I have owned this car for over 2 years now and it performs better more than a few luxury vehicles I have driven. If upscale driving performance and handling are what you appreciate than you dont have to look further!

Is the best car I ever owned! Looks expensive, but on long term is not!

My second BMW, this 5-series is a great improvement over the late 80s models. It is solid, great build quality, no roll in the turns and the computer sensitive power to wheels helps in snow for a rear wheel drive vehicle. Great combination of luxury and performance.

I drove a 3 series for the past three years. I loved it. I recently graduated to the 540i. The 540 feels like a rocket ship. If I could afford an M-5, Id buy it...but...this car has everything I need.

  • Last Beemer for me! - 2000 BMW 5-Series

Very disappointed with this my 2nd BMW. Yes - its a wonderful, fun-to-drive car. BUT - A/C has died 2nd summer in both cars - $1300 to repair!! Cupholders are a joke - unusuable and constantly broken - and now the water pump went -2 months before my lease ends - another $1000 to fix. For $700/month Im going to be looking elsewherefor my next car. And the dealership is NO help - they act like its a privilege to own one of their cars.

WAGONS DRIVING PERFORMANCE IS EXCELLENT WITH EXTRAORDINARY CORNERING AND TYPICAL BMW CONTROL. A JOY TO DRIVE AND CARRY A LOAD OF FAMILY SHOPPING TRIPS.
