Overview & Reviews
It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans. Introduced for the 1972 model year, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room. It's also highly regarded for its refined styling and innovative technology features.
Most BMW 5 Series models you'll come across will be rear-wheel-drive sedans, though you'll stumble upon the occasional 5 Series wagon on the used car market. In addition, all-wheel drive has been optional for some time, and many used sedans in colder climes will be so equipped. Traditionally, the 5 Series has featured an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, but BMW has also offered V8 engines, turbocharged four-cylinders and even diesel-powered options. When people ask us to recommend luxury cars, the BMW 5 Series is invariably high on the list, new or used.

530i - 2007 BMW 5-Series
By RL - August 29 - 9:05 amFit and finish is top notch. Handling and comfort are exceptional. The split screen LCD used for iDrive and NAV is bright, wide-screen format, and of high resolution. The iDrive is fine once you get used to it.

Great family car - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By Andreas - August 28 - 2:09 pmThe 530 has great cabin space and lots of rear seat room for the rest of the family. It also has great deep trunk space for the stroller. Although other makes have large cu. ft. trunk space, they are not very deep making it difficult to load stuff in the trunk without smashing the stroller. It is a great car with superb handling and comfort. It does not have the same acceleration as some of the other cars, but it offers excellent high speed kick-down and overtaking capabilities... especially with the steptronic.

A lot of money for a lot of car - 2007 BMW 5-Series
By Freddy - August 28 - 12:05 pmI just bought the 550i after looking around for a few months. I wanted the performance but I was concerned about the fuel economy. If you can believe the gauge on the car, I am getting 28.6 MPG on the highway. It is only rated at 25, so that is excellent. When I fill it up again I will verify that number. This car is a pleasure to drive. Its quick, quiet, and comfortable. Sport package not necessary. Automatic is best for most. There is a 1300 dollar gas guzzler tax on the stick shift.

my new 530I - 2004 BMW 5-Series
By jblum361 - August 28 - 10:00 amBMW is a pleasure to drive. Traction control on ice and snow is a good as you can expect. Heated steering wheel and seats work quickly which is a welcome relief on a chilly morning. Fuel economy is better than my previous 5 series averaging well over 30 miles per gallon on a road trip.

Awesome. A kick to drive every day. - 2007 BMW 5-Series
By Pebble Beach cruzin - August 26 - 11:50 amThe car is smooth as silk at idle, has a muscular power curve. It has power from the word go and handles like a dream, the AC works far superior than BMW units have in the past. The sport package is a must, the front seats are a dream. The iPod (aux input) adapter works great. Gets 25 mpg on the highway. It feels and drives like a sports car, there are still no substitutions for a BMW.

The 5 is Awesome - 2006 BMW 5-Series
By Kevin - August 22 - 12:42 pmIt is impossible to find a flaw in this car! The bigger 6 cylinder seems to kick more than 255 ponies - great acceleration. Build and fit are perfect so far. Tired of hearing about iDrive!
