Overview & Reviews
New 528i and 540i sport wagons debut, all 5 Series models achieve low emission vehicle (LEV) status, and consumers will find extensive new standard and optional equipment on the cars.
- Sport sedan and wagon in a luxury car package.
- Cheap plastic buttons for the power door lock switches are out of place in a car of this caliber, manual transmission in 540i difficult to modulate smoothly.

The Best Yet ! - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By Nigel - December 28 - 2:00 amI bought my BMW 528i certified pre- owned. After it was checked over completely from the start I felt great driving it off the lot. I continue to drive with confidene. Very reliable and adored by all people a shocked to hear its not brand new. I get offers every week to buy the car from me. I owned 3 BMW 3 series but the 528i is the best yet !

Total package - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By Wonder42 - May 27 - 2:00 amSold an Audi S4 to get into the 540i. Yes, I certainly miss the Quattro in the winter but, in nice weather, the 540i provides an unsurpassed performance driving experience - gobs of torque, great brakes, unflappable suspension and super accurate steering response. All of this - combined with a quiet, luxurious cabin with room for five - cant imagine the M5s capabilities!!

cant beat a 5 series - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By nmexmatt - May 2 - 2:00 amI am a BMW fanatic. I currently have an 850 and a 528i. The 5 series is just a superb vehicle. Very solid. Love the steering wheel controls. I prefer the locking system and cruise control of my 8 series better, but other than that the 5 is an all around great machine.

I cant part with it. - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By TimC - March 13 - 2:00 amIve owned a 99 540 iA w/ Sport Pkg. for 4 years now. Had a 95 540 before that. Ive been looking hard for the last couple of months for a new car replacement. I cant find anything I like better...except a 2003 BMW 540. So the decision was made...Im keeping the 99 for my wife...ordered a new 2003 for myself. I couldnt be happier...I just wish Id kept my 95 too. Theyve all been exceptional rides in every detail.

I love my wagon!! - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By rbud - March 12 - 2:00 amOther than lousy cupholders, this car is the best I have ever had. Solid, safe, reliable and fun to drive. Great visability. Lots of cargo room (I haul our two labs from time to time). Snappy features, such as tool kit hidden in the hatch panel, red safety lights on doors & hatch. Quality fit and finish. Airbags, side bags and head curtain ahad of anybody.

Fair Assessment - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By C Krebs - March 7 - 2:00 amThis is the third BMW 5 Series that I have owned, and I have bought all of them used about 2 years old. My specs for buying each of them have been to get a black 4-door, 6 cylinder, manual transmission with less than 50,000 miles on it. When I sold my first two BMWs, each had more than 200,000 miles on it, got great mileage (27+ MPG on the road, and both were running extremely well. Current model(1999)feels heavier, but gets better mileage, and a BMW is fun to drive.

First BMW - Aquired Loyalty : 10 - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By S3vSt3R - February 9 - 2:00 amIt is just unbelievable. Handling is just perfect. This car is such a solid performer, that it makes me smile every day when I have to drive it to work. I am against buying used cars, but after test drive I changed my mind on this one.

Coolest Looking Wagon - 1999 BMW 5-Series
By Andre - January 17 - 2:00 amBuilt like a tank but handles like a sports car. I have the six cylinder version. Sometimes I long for the 8 but overall performance is strong, particularly at high cruising speeds.
