Overview & Reviews
It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans. Introduced for the 1972 model year, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room. It's also highly regarded for its refined styling and innovative technology features.
Most BMW 5 Series models you'll come across will be rear-wheel-drive sedans, though you'll stumble upon the occasional 5 Series wagon on the used car market. In addition, all-wheel drive has been optional for some time, and many used sedans in colder climes will be so equipped. Traditionally, the 5 Series has featured an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, but BMW has also offered V8 engines, turbocharged four-cylinders and even diesel-powered options. When people ask us to recommend luxury cars, the BMW 5 Series is invariably high on the list, new or used.

BMW 545i with sports package - 2004 BMW 5-Series
By Alberto - January 4 - 2:00 amI had the somewhat unique experience of actually picking up my car in Germany under the European Delivery Program. I got to drive this car on the AUTOBAHN around Munich and Austria, regretfully because it was a new car, I could not exceed 4000 RPM, nevertheless, the car handled superbly at 120 MILES PER HOUR!!!, what a GREAT EXPERINCE!!! The car exeeded my expectations!

nearly perfect - 2004 BMW 5-Series
By happy SC driver - January 4 - 2:00 amI have had the BMW 530i for only a short time but this may be the best luxury sedan I have ever owned and that list includes top of the line Mercedes Benz, Lexus, Volvo and Infiniti automobiles. It is smooth on turns and powerful on straight runs. It looks great inside and out and is technologically superior to any car I have owned.

A fun bimmer for 54 grand - 2004 BMW 5-Series
By Don S - January 4 - 2:00 amRemember how much fun the 2002 or the 320i was to drive? The 530i brings that back. Tight as a drum and the 6 has enough juice to really give it a run. Gotta get used to the i- drive....hope I dont wreck the thing while Im turning the dials and watching the screen. It is fun!

First BMW, very impressed so far... - 2004 BMW 5-Series
By Kramer - January 4 - 2:00 amThis truly is the sport sedans others are measured by. Altough not perfect, it it definitely the closest thing to it within that price range I test drove. A few more ponies for the 525 would be nice, but it performs at such an efficient level with regards to high revving tranny it is hardly noticed. Man, these guys can build a transmission.

What a fun car - 2007 BMW 5-Series
By Bobs BMW - January 2 - 9:46 pmThis car lives up to its title "Ultimate Driving Machine" Fun to drive plenty of power and highly accurate steering. The interior ride and comfort is second to none. The navigation system and radio are a dream because of their ease of use. I would highly recommend this car.
