  • Commuting is fun now!!!! - 2004 BMW 5-Series

I absolutely love my new 525i. I was in the market for a E300 and I said, what the hell, lets stop at BMW..fully prepared to hate them. My car drives like a dream. It handles like its on rails and I have the confidence of knowing my car will do what I want. I now look forward to my 50 minute commute to work through the crowded So. California freeways. If I had known I enjoyed driving so much, I would have spent the extra $$ for the bigger engine.

I have an 04/530i with sport suspension.... what is that old adage...never buy a first year model..the car has been towed to the dealer 3 times., radio has been replaced, the LCD screen has gone dead numerous times and the dealer has had to replace it, no numerous occations the "i-drive" LCD screen will not operate until 5-10 mins., after the car has been started., the chasey creeks, rattles...ps this has all hapeened over the last 10 months.....road noise from front tires(had them checked by dealer....no unusally wear) sounds like Im driving a truck wit old retread. By the way my wife has a 03/525 that is a dream .

  • Transmission Jolts/Jerks/Clunks Fuel Ec - 2004 BMW 5-Series

From speed of, e.g., 30 mph, as gas pedal released to bring vehicle to stop/lower speed (when coasting and/or braking), as vehicle slows driver feels jerk/jolt forward a number times as vehicle shifts/lurches down from gear to gear (seems to be caused by abrupt increase, and then decrease in speed and sometimes associated with a clunking sound) as it comes to a stop. At a stop, when placed in reverse, and after releasing the brake pedal, without depressing the gas pedal, the vehicle suddenly moves in a backward motion and reaches a speed in excess of 5 mph. BMW&service states: "normal" conditions.

  • BEST DRIVE EVER - 2004 BMW 5-Series

This is a great car to drive. Fast and fun. Easy to handle. The i control isnt too hard to learn, but you should really have a teenager there to help. I do find that sometimes settings are changed and I have no clue how I changed them or how to change them back. It will require you to look in the owners manual to fix it. BMW has contacted me several times as well as the auto dealership that sold it to me to inquire how I like the car. I feel like I am being treated very well by BMW. I love this car.

  • Great Start - 2004 BMW 5-Series

Fantastic automobile. Ordered with every option except sport package. Titanium Grey with grey leather. Some initial build quality issues but a solid start to the new 5. I-pod ease of use issue very overblown have found it easy and intuitive. Best combination of ride, handling, speed, exterior design, interior design, and features on the market.

  • First 5 Series - 2004 BMW 5-Series

We ordered our 5 series from the factory in Munich and had it deliverd to the US in June. This is our first sport luxury sedan and are very pleased with the ride, handling, and appearance. The comfort of the interior is outstanding and allows for 6-8 hour drives with no discomfort. Sound system is great. We use the owners manual to figure out the iDrive and have most of our settings finally completed. Will return to this web site in a year to update our experience.

  • Horrible problems - 2004 BMW 5-Series
    By -

Electrical problems and transmission problems from day one. 6 speed manual is very clunky, bad transmission. Vehicle caught fire! Car is constantly in shop, with no loaner provided. Qualifies for a lemon and I am working with a lawyer. If this particular vehicle didnt have so many problems, Id really love the car. Excellent handling... much better than MB E300. Nice engine. If the transmission shifted properly, it would be an amazing match to the engine. Quiet driving, stable at high speeds. Great heated seats with lots of adjustment. Huge trunk. Standard stereo leaves lots to be desired.

  • ONE BIG PROBLEM - 2004 BMW 5-Series
    By -

Love the car...Most impressed with the active steering and adaptive headlights. Great handling and feel. The idrive is just like using a mouse and to me easier than finding the right button on the dash. MY ONLY COMPLAINT--DEALER SAYS BMW HAS NOT SOLVED SATELLITE RADIO ON THE 5- SERIES, ALTHOUGH MY CAR CAME PREWIRED FOR SIRRUS. WHATS THE DEAL WITH THAT?? ONE OF THE BEST ENGINEERED CARS IN THE WORLD AND THEY CANT FIGURE OUT SATELLITE RADIO??

  • bmw top notch - 2004 BMW 5-Series

My previous car was a Acura its so much diffrance.BMW terrific car,top of the line sedan. So far, I like everything about it. The I-drive is fine I do not see any problems. It should be a bit cheaper and have more standard features.

  • Lovin It - 2004 BMW 5-Series

I really love this call, except for the fact that lately, some iDrive features are acting a little funky (need to take it into the dealership)
