Model Overview:

It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans. Introduced for the 1972 model year, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room. It's also highly regarded for its refined styling and innovative technology features.

Most BMW 5 Series models you'll come across will be rear-wheel-drive sedans, though you'll stumble upon the occasional 5 Series wagon on the used car market. In addition, all-wheel drive has been optional for some time, and many used sedans in colder climes will be so equipped. Traditionally, the 5 Series has featured an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, but BMW has also offered V8 engines, turbocharged four-cylinders and even diesel-powered options. When people ask us to recommend luxury cars, the BMW 5 Series is invariably high on the list, new or used.

This car is like no other. I love driving it! I recommend it to anyone. I went with the 530i. Very smooth. Get the satelite radio, the sound system is perfect.

Truly one of the best performance sedans on the market. Clean design with a solid feeling of reliable performance. You ride in quiet luxurious surroundings and at the same time have a real "feel" for the road and the exhilaration of strong performance.

  • Too much for average quality - 2008 BMW 5-Series

Poor storage space for little items like sunglasses, wallets, change, phones. Ride position is very low with the sport package. Transmission and brakes make for poor stop and go traffic comfort. Rough shifts in the mornings. Handles and drives like no other sedan above 70 mph. Horrible car for speeds below 30 mph. Large turning radius and bad blind spots. I bought this car with much regret and cant wait to get out of it. Nice looks and performance at high speeds but worthless in every day traffic. IDrive is plain horrid and after 6 software flashes it crashes randomly for 2-3 days at a time. Techs cant figure out why. Bluetooth works great, nav is the worst I have seen. Not worth price.

  • Pretty fenomenal - 2003 BMW 5-Series

This is the second 540i 6spd I own, replacing a 98. Performance, reliability, workmanship are incredible. I did Euro delivery for both cars, and it added to the experience. Overall, the price/performance ratio is incredible. Best car I ever owned.

The BMW 5 Series is an awesome ride. The front passager side is a little small if your 59" or taller, but its with a few adjustments is ok. The car does gets a lot of attention. The carholders could have been a make so the cup can sit a little deeper in the holder. I would purchase it again, but only in the 7 Series for more leg room.

I previously owned a Lexus GS which was a rattle trap. I was originally concerned that the BMW would ride too rough for me since I have some pretty severe back problems. The 535 far exceeds my hopes and expectations. Not only are the comfort seats the most comfortable Ive ever owned, but the ride is superb. It is a bit firmer than the Lexus, but the support the seats provide make the BMW a much more comfortable car for me. And this thing is rock solid - no rattles. Plus the fun factor is out of this world. This car is a rocket on rails. My wife always disliked the looks of BMW, but I cant get her out of this car. The iDrive is a piece of cake, nav system is great, and the prem stereo rocks.

  • Theres no competition - 2006 BMW 5-Series

When speaking of my alpine white with black leather interior 2005 BMW 545i, I couldnt have chosen a better car for my first vehicle ever. There is so much to be said about this car. The performance is so gratifying the look is so gorgeous. I cantt go a day without looking at this beautiful machine and thanking the man upstairs for the blessing of owning it. Anyone whos even considering getting one, Id tell them dont even think twice about it. Once youve driven a Beamer theres no turning back, youre hooked.

  • 525i Review - 2004 BMW 5-Series

525i Auto w/ Premium & Cold Weather Pkgs - Looks great inside & out. (Whats all the fuss about? They kept the classic BMW styling cues, but made it sleek, & modern looking.) Lots of convenience features (i.e. driver position memory, dual climate control, free scheduled maintenance, etc.) 2.5L 6-cyl is adequate, but unexciting. Auto transmission is smooth and shifts well. Ride is refined and quiet, as you would expect. Roomy and comfortable interior.

  • It gets better! - 2004 BMW 5-Series

I drove a 2000 5-series for 4 years and thought it couldnt get any better. Wow!...was I surprised! BMW has NOT disappointed me and it lives up to all of my expectations. The ride is smooth; handling superb; and its filled with all of the comforts expected in a mid-sized luxury car! I look forward to getting into my 5 and driving each day.

  • Best BMW I have ever owned! - 2004 BMW 5-Series

I have now owned my 530i, 2004 for three months and enjoy driving the "Utimate Driving Machine". It handles better tan my previous BMW X5, which is hard to imagine. I love the power and control the car has, making me feel safe on the road! I recommend this car highly.
