Model Overview:

It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans. Introduced for the 1972 model year, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room. It's also highly regarded for its refined styling and innovative technology features.

Most BMW 5 Series models you'll come across will be rear-wheel-drive sedans, though you'll stumble upon the occasional 5 Series wagon on the used car market. In addition, all-wheel drive has been optional for some time, and many used sedans in colder climes will be so equipped. Traditionally, the 5 Series has featured an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, but BMW has also offered V8 engines, turbocharged four-cylinders and even diesel-powered options. When people ask us to recommend luxury cars, the BMW 5 Series is invariably high on the list, new or used.

  • My piece of class - 1995 BMW 5-Series

With all the BMWs in this world, I found myself in a dealer looking into a certified 525ia during a battle with my Jeep. The car is solid and has taken me on many long trips without any failures. On one occasion, my BMW was hit from behind by a commercial van and suffer NO damage other than loosing the cover for the tow hook in the read bumper. The van had heavy grill damage since it went under the back of the BMW. I highly recommend this car to anyone interested in some class without the huge cost normally associated with it.

My kids cant understand why I have a wagon, instead of a big SUV. I can park any where, low center of gravity, and its a sports car with a big trunk.

What a pleasure it is to drive again. This car preforms like a precision machine with creature comforts beyond my wildest dreams. All of that and reasonable operating costs too. It was a financial leap worth making,a true definition of the word value.

The absolutely BEST car I have ever owned. Manually tranny, sports package, zenon lights - it goes where you point it. Handles like a drea, extremely smooth shifting, suspension is surperb. 17" tires with skinny sidewalls - if you start to lose air, kiss the tire goodbye. The sidewall will be chewed up by the time you get over to the shoulder of the road. Also, tires are hard to find -be prepared to wait a day or so to get replacement. Low ground clearance- especially with front spoiler. Be careful of jerky valet parking lot attendants. Complaint - lousy coffee cup holders! But, ze should not be drinking kaffee whilst driving! Ya?

I traded in a 330CI convertible sports model for this vehicle to have the all- wheel drive. At first I was very skeptical. This car has proven itself over and over again. Love it!! Love to drive it, very fun. I purchased mine with navigation, and all the bells and whistles. So many I am still learning how to work them. I am adding the rear spoiler this week. Overall, I was shocked at how well I love this car and would recommend to everyone.

I got my 1st BMW as a birthday gift 10 years ago. I LOVED it and didnt want to part with it. My husband said that I was long overdue for a new car... test drove a few others... loved the 525xi. My child was 3 weeks old when I was in a head on collision with my old BMW and he slept through it! Now I need a little more room and the same safety features... this car has it. I NEVER thought I would leave an American car but BMW is amazing. With these cars, you only have to get a new one once every 10 years! ENJOY! PS my husband has had two 7 series and two X5. We are converts to BMW!!

I purchased a brand new 98 528 with the 5 speed and sport package, drove it for 3 years... incredible car! I still miss it and my heart literally stops when I see a familiar artic silver profile on the road with a gray leather interior... just awesome car!

Great performance, fun to drive, dont live in New England, however. Bad in snow/ice, even a very little. Interior design is good, love the radio controls on the steering wheel. Cup holders have broken off five times, windshield wipers have stopped working in the rain, front molding has fallen off.

These must be the best built cars for around 45K. This car surly is not slow. Test drove Acura 3.2TL type S and the Lexus GS300 and still the BMW feels very well rounded when pushing the pedel and reciving the amount of power needed in all situations. Steering may seem heavy at first, after getting used to it makes you feel always so confidant and in control. Quietness seems to have been a big considertion when this car was designed, Ultra super smooth steering, ride, suspension, controls, EVERYTHING. Rear seat room is a bit smaller then other cars we test drove but not so much that it is uncomfortable. GREAT Job BMW.
