The 5 Series has been completely redesigned for 2004. Along with a new V8 and the iDrive vehicle management system, buyers can expect even greater handling from this premier midsize sedan than before.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, handles more like a sports car than a sedan, luxurious yet sporty cabin.

I got it on March 1st, It is so far the best car ever drove. Better than Audi, Benz, Volvo, etc. No doubt! I have the sport package with Active Steering (if you get used to it, you will never drive something else), roll stabilization. It is well built, strong, very stable, very much fun to drive. Much more fun than the 3 series. Good torch. I simply love it and dont regret ever having it.

Awesome. Thats all I can say. This car is the most fun car I have ever drivwen and I have driven a few. I would recommend this highly to anybody looking. The only drawback was I went with the 525 for my wife and I would have rather gotten the 530 for the extra power. Other then that no complaints at all. We got premium and Sports package and the car handles like a dream

The BMW 5 Series is the best driving car I have driven as well as comfort interior. Well worth the money. Anyone who takes pleasure in driving should test drive the BMW

During the past 12 years I have owned three different 5-series models, including the new 525i..This car is by far the best in terms of luxary and design, external and internal. I doubted that BMW could better the 97 model..well folks, the new 2004 is a far better auto overall..its a knockout. The much maligned i-drive is easy to use but you have to play with it for a while..Drawbacks: a noisy interior with the moonroof open on highway, and a premiun cd changer that allows random play on one cd only...minor quips tho.

amazing! I had a 2002 525 and last january sold it and bought x5. x5 was great but certainly no 5 sreies. My wife now drives the x5. I did not think bmw could or should mess with the 5 series. but now that i own the new 530 with the sport package i am impressed. the car drives and handles impressively.i had mixed feelings regarding the new body style, but after seeing the car in the drive way it is sharp!

  • BMW still needs better quality control - 2004 BMW 5-Series

Own it for 8 day. After shift to reverse and shift back to D, the right mirror sometimes does not tilt up. iDrive sometimes does not start, not even display the main menu. Handling and performance have been improved, a lot better than my 2000 528i.

Ive been in the dealer more than the car. Told flaws are fixed in the next years model! Pain in the rear to get the car in. The problems are repeated cup holders broken, in dash software problems, doors rattle, lights stay on, signals flip to one side then ther other, wheel balance is always pulling, seat adjustment controls and overall one thing or another,.

  • the i drive system aint that bad - 2004 BMW 5-Series

the i-drive system on the new five series aint that hard to master, if you can use a computer mouse it should be a snap. once you take the time to set the car up to your liking it is terrific!!! i spent a good hour looking for defects and really could find any except for the lame cup holders. the navigation system is better than the one in my acura and that is saying a lot! the power of the six it fine the eight would produce too many speeding tickets, i could tell. i wonder why i didnt get one sooner! if you are looking for a car dont buy this one, if you looking for a partner for the road this is the machine to buy.

Exterior is good, nice body lines. Interior is less fun for driver, but comfortable for passangers. Design of front panel could be much better, that includes I-drive screen portion.Too many conflicting shapes, looks very heavy.Performance is very good, the car is fast and solid. Turning radius could be less but its O.K.
