Overview & Reviews
The 525 and 530 models receive an all-new 3.0-liter inline-six engine this year, and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system is now available to serve those who need a little more bad-weather bite. BMW is also offering a versatile 5 Series wagon to U.S. customers once more, though only in 530xi trim. The 545i has been replaced by the 550i, which features a 360-horsepower, 4.8-liter V8.
- One of the most satisfying midsize sport sedans/wagons you can buy, ultrarefined engines, multiple transmissions, tastefully appointed cabin, exceptional build quality, strong resale value.

06 BMW 530i A Great Improvement - 2006 BMW 5-Series
By HiHoMike - January 30 - 5:00 amI traded in my 05 525i on my new 06 530i. The increase in horsepower to 255 makes all the difference in the world. Ive got over 2000 miles on the new BMW and the fuel economy is even better than with the smaller engine on my 05. Im averaging 23 mpg city/hway combined and over 32 mpg on the highway in cruise control. The performance of the new 06 is far superior to the 05 and the fuel economy even better.

The new BMW 5 series - 2006 BMW 5-Series
By Bryan B. - October 26 - 10:43 pmGreat new design! parked next to a 2003 5 series yesterday, what a drastic change! The former looked dated and conservitive, mine, a modern refreshing design. Every mile in the car puts a smile on my face and makes each day that much more fun!

The best car I ever drove! - 2006 BMW 5-Series
By GG - February 15 - 7:20 amAfter test driving several competitors, the BMW won my heart 2 minutes into my 30 minute test drive. It is true what everybody says, a BMW really does feel and drive differently than any other car. You have to drive it, to really appreciate it. My search for the perfect car has ended. Great job BMW.

Killer Car - 2006 BMW 5-Series
By bobgs - January 15 - 3:23 amI considered many cars before deciding on the 525 but none live up to the 525. I get excited every time I step into this car. Handling, comfort, transmission, and styling (in my opinion) are best in class. 525 power is adequate and even deceptively strong. I dont think the 40hp upgrade to the 530 is worth the money. Overall the best car in the 40-50k range.
