Model Overview:

It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans. Introduced for the 1972 model year, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room. It's also highly regarded for its refined styling and innovative technology features.

Most BMW 5 Series models you'll come across will be rear-wheel-drive sedans, though you'll stumble upon the occasional 5 Series wagon on the used car market. In addition, all-wheel drive has been optional for some time, and many used sedans in colder climes will be so equipped. Traditionally, the 5 Series has featured an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, but BMW has also offered V8 engines, turbocharged four-cylinders and even diesel-powered options. When people ask us to recommend luxury cars, the BMW 5 Series is invariably high on the list, new or used.

Just brought home my 02 Certified Pre- owned 525i after I traded in my Z3. I cant believe its the same engine. It does lake a little bit, but this car is SUPER responsive. I have the Sport + Premium Package. Nice. I must agree...the cup holders arent worth the plastic their made of. (COME ON BMW). Overall...a step up from the Z3. I LOVE this car

My first, definitely not the last.. I left it for a service and got a Chevy Tahoe as a loaner. What a difference in steering. I could not go straight! Once back in my BMW I felt like being bolted to the road. Great overall smooth ride except sharp bumps (those joints on a concrete highway).

This is a very well engineered, and built vehicle. I would recommend it to anyone interested in buying a high quality vehicle.

  • Excellent Car, buy it, but negotiate - 2003 BMW 5-Series

This car has all the performance: steering, handling, braking, acceleration that I expect from a BMW. Its my second BMW, but this is the first 5. Im a stick shift driver so Im surprised that I like driving an automatic. The 530i has enough power to overcome the automatic.

  • FUN...at a price - 2000 BMW 5-Series

What a great car to drive...for the first 80,000 miles. Since then, one thing after another has started to fail, and of course, it costs a fortune each time. If money isnt an issue to you, I would recommend this car to anyone. You cant beat the adrenaline rush of dropping a gear at 80mph and feeling the car jump forward!

I bought the 2003 530i auto with comfort seats, heated steering wheel, xenon, and DSP stereo option. I commute 100 miles to work each day and the heated comfort seats and steering wheel keep my aching, middle-class, white collar bones feeling great. The Digital Sound Processing option for the stereo is nothing more than glorified reverb and definitely not worth the money. Performance, engineering, design, fit and finish are truly wonderful. In the last year of production, there does not appear to be a single bug in the car. This car is a keeper.

  • Superb fun sporty sedan - 2001 BMW 5-Series

This is my second 5 series BMW. It provides the fun driving experience of a truly responsive car while providing the room and flexibility I need to also use it for work. It is a joy to drive on the highway especially in the mountains. It makes going to meetings fun. Given todays gas prices I appreciate the true 32 mpg I get on the highway. The controls and guages are all easy to read and work. I wish mine had the more extensive trip computer. I have found nothing that matches the handling and sheer fun of driving a stick shift BMW. There have been minor mechanical glitches which have been fixed under the BMW warranty.
