Overview & Reviews
This is your last chance to get a traditionally styled 5 Series -- next year, its styling becomes more closely aligned with the controversial 7 Series. For now, BMW will offer a DVD-based navigation system for the existing 5 Series -- but alas, you must still give up an in-dash CD player if you opt for the nav system. Besides that, rear head protection airbags (optional last year) are now standard across the line. Additionally, all six-cylinder models get a standard moonroof. Standard on the manual-shift 540i (and optional with the automatic) is a new sport package that includes 18-inch wheels, a revised sport suspension, front and rear spoilers, visible exhaust outlets, black side molding, a black headliner, titanium-ringed gauges and an M footrest for the driver. Finally, the 525i gets a new alloy wheel design, and its premium package now includes rain-sensing wipers.
- Thrilling to drive, superb ride quality, upscale interiors, wide range of trim levels, clean exterior styling.
- Some confusing interior controls, demanding manual transmission, high-end models are pricey.

Best sports sedan period - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By ali kayani - August 31 - 2:00 amThis is one good looking and awesome sports sedan. It is very comfortable and luxorious and sporty sedan. The interior is very fine. The materials used are quality and the car is quite agile and solid. No doubt it wins all its comparisons. If u want a quality sexy sports sedan then buy the BMW 5 series sedan with sports package

GRRRR, Love the Power - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By DCNH - August 25 - 10:00 amThis will be my 3rd BMW. I have owned the 3 series in the past. I love the power/torg of the 540. Handling is superb for a V8. Extremely comfortable and queit on the 18 wheels. Plenty of room in front / rear. Xlnt highway car. Going 80 mph feels like 30.

Best New car Ive ever purchased - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By Larry oliver - August 25 - 10:00 amThe car was flawless from day one. There were no factory defects to address!!! The 525i has plenty of power. I couldnt justify spending another $3,100 for the 530i. The only other option I would have gotten is an automatic diming rearview mirror. My previous vehicle was a 95 Ford Windstar, no comparison!

The Ultimate Test Drive - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By Bimmer FIEND - August 25 - 10:00 amI test drove this vehcle with my father and I am hooked on it. The ride quality is superb on the suburban roads. Unlike my dads Buick Park Avenue, this car absorbs bumps and immediately recovers whereas our Buick bounces for a while after. Pulling onto the freeway my dad (I do not yet have a license) just tapped the gas and we were off. I probably wouldve floored it. Even mild acceleration is a rush though. GREAT at cornering. This car cruises very well. BMW is loosing fans fast, however, with there new designssuch as the Z4 and the upcoming new 5. Why mess with such a good thing.

Highly Recommended - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By John - August 24 - 11:49 amLove this car... what a sweet ride. It handles very well despite the 3800 lbs, interior is perfect away from the useless cupholders, sport package is great. Be careful & watch the speedometer, youll think youre doing 65 & really be doing 105.

exceeds my expectation - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By lovemybm - August 14 - 10:00 amGot my 530i with M Executive Package (premium package + sports package + M trimming, ie, loaded)for a year end dirt cheap price. This car exceeds everything I expected from even the high standard of BMW. It accelerates with such sweet smoothness, handles with such precision and the interior has just the right European and sporty taste. . Also did a very long test drive on the 2004 530i. If you are a real bimmer lover, go out there and grab your 2003 model before theyre all gone.

By J. Fabel - July 14 - 10:00 amHandles as you would dream about. Fuel milage has been 39mpg crusing on Freeways. So many amenities that I am still refering to the owners manuel to use them to the fullest. The ride is excellent as is the response when needed. Im a BMW530i fan for life. Unless BMW brings out something better in the future.

The Ultimate Driving Machine - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By New Lease on Life - July 13 - 2:00 amLoved my 2000 Mercedes C230 Kompressor (recently turned in at lease end). However, this BMW puts it to shame. Comments ranged from "yeah, theyre nice but so overpriced (actually well priced!)" to "youre stepping down to a BMW?". After the first month, Im still high (no, its not just the new car scent!). Solid and yet extremely comfortable ride, reeeeeeealy quiet, excellent braking, awesome sound system (steering wheel controls big +), leather seats like living room furniture, controls logical & easy to use, xlnt a/c system, rain sensing windshield wipers much more of a plus than anticipated. By far the best of all 10 of my previous vehicles!

540iA Sport - 2003 BMW 5-Series
By Spiel - July 8 - 10:00 amJust purchased a 540iA Sport 1 month ago before the 2004 model ruins the 5 Series in a few months. Its a perfect driving machine. Steptronic Transmission is smooth. Handling is BMW. 18" wheels not too rough and cornering feels great, especially with the sport seats. Titanium silver metallic paint with black interior the best combination. Instrument panel just as good as an Audi. Sports package and premium sound option musts (a hint of M helps). No problems or glitches so far.
