Model Overview:

It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans. Introduced for the 1972 model year, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room. It's also highly regarded for its refined styling and innovative technology features.

Most BMW 5 Series models you'll come across will be rear-wheel-drive sedans, though you'll stumble upon the occasional 5 Series wagon on the used car market. In addition, all-wheel drive has been optional for some time, and many used sedans in colder climes will be so equipped. Traditionally, the 5 Series has featured an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, but BMW has also offered V8 engines, turbocharged four-cylinders and even diesel-powered options. When people ask us to recommend luxury cars, the BMW 5 Series is invariably high on the list, new or used.

  • Great car! - 2007 BMW 5-Series

This is my first BMW and it is fun! Everything from the exterior styling to the driving characteristics are great. The iDrive system does take a little time to master but allows you to program many things that other cars do not. The car is getting well over the average miles per gallon in city traffic.

Great car. I purposely dont listen to the radio just to hear the sweet sound of the inline 6. Comfortable, fast, safe.

Bought the car on military sales overseas, nice price with a 3k rebate (just under 53K fully optioned, no HUD/auto cruise but NVD, etc). No glitches, drives wonderfully.

  • Ultimate Sport Sedan - 2007 BMW 5-Series

Awesome power and ride with the sport package option suspension and Dunlop run flat tires. Very smooth even on rough roads. Comfort seats are amazing! Premium sound is a must due to amazing logic 7 system. No problems at all, nothing to even adjust. The iDrive is no problem once you get used to it.

  • Disappointing for this much money - 2006 BMW 5-Series

After thoroughly enjoying my 3 series, I looked forward to the 530. What a disappointment, I have never had any car in for service so often, the high battery drain others have mentioned, iDrive replaced, tires have been replaced twice at no charge due to noise and excessive cupping, brake sensor malfunction resulted in having brakes replaced at 10K miles. While BMW has replaced all these items, having to take car in over 10 times in a year is just ridiculous. Not what you expect for this much money. Also just cant get this seat and steering wheel adjusted to point its comfortable for more than a little while. All in all, a great looking car, and I enjoy it - when it runs correctly.

  • exceeds my expectation - 2003 BMW 5-Series

Bought the 03 automatic model with all possible options including sport package, M aero kit and suspension for US$40000, what a steal. The 530i totally exceeds my expectation even on BMW high standard. It accelerates with sweet smoothness, handles with sharp precision with the just right sporty and European taste.Drove the 04 model, all I can say is get the 03 while you still can.

For $48k it should come with a bigger engine. Itll go when pushed but it lags at first. Car handles like it were glued to the road while providing a level of comfort you would expect in a luxury car.

  • Best Ever - 2007 BMW 5-Series

This is by far the best BMW I have ever owned. This is my seventh BMW ranging from 94 750il 95 325is. 97 M3 99 540i 02 Z4 and 04 745li. This cars performance matches many sports cars.

  • Couldnt be happier - 2007 BMW 5-Series

The car was delivered 3 weeks ago and then I took my wife and son on a trip to Maine, covering 3,000 miles. We spent a lot of time in the car and it was worth every penny we paid for it. Its a dream on the highway and a pleasure in the mountains. The handling was classic BMW and driving was a pleasure. I recommend the navigation system for anyone who travels much away from home. It was very useful and easy to use. Ive heard complaints about the iDrive but after a very short time it became very easy to use. Ive had two 3 series cars and I enjoyed them. This is a great step up.
