This Year's Model Updates:

Additional equipment is the only thing that distinguishes the 2007 BMW 5 Series from last year's model. Heading up the list is a standard four-year subscription to BMW Assist, a communications system that automatically contacts your BMW dealer when your car needs service, and summons help in the event of a collision. In addition, there's now an auxiliary input jack for MP3 players and optional high-definition radio, which provides CD-quality sound on FM stations that broadcast in HD. Vehicles with the Sport package get a new steering wheel design and 20-way adjustable multicontour front seats. Finally, 5 Series buyers have the option of getting BMW's Night Vision system, which uses a thermal imaging camera to detect obstacles up to 1,000 feet in front of the car.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling dynamics, smooth and vigorous engines, premium cabin furnishings, precision build quality, strong resale value.
Cons:

  • Beware! 2007 BMW 530i - 2007 BMW 5-Series

The 2007 530i is an overrated, bloated car. I owned a 540i for many years and loved it. A genuine ultimate driving machine. I made a terrible mistake to trade it in for a 530i. Dont be fooled by the namesake BMW - the 530i can hardly get out of its way - 255 HP is a joke in this heavy tank. Im convinced a VW Rabbit can beat this hyped vehicle. Most owners wont admit they own this piece of crap (too embarrassed to admit since most - I included - paid a fortune for an overrated car). Anyone out there want a 2007 530i?

  • Eh - take it or leave it - 2007 BMW 5-Series

Very jerky in 1st gear. NO storage, idrive is wacky. At 6 3" I should have purchased the 7 series. I dont actually know what all the fuss is about. Great brakes though!

  • Not a good experience - 2007 BMW 5-Series

One of best purchase experiences of many cars over 40 years of driving. Car has its problems, mostly electrical. Especially iDrive is a bad idea. Poor execution. Drivers seat adjusts forward and up on its own. Screen display blanks, iDrive inoperable, no GPS, no radio, no access to system functions or warnings. Reprogrammed multiple times, reverts to same problems in short time. Electronic key replaced 3 times in attempts to cure Comfort Access issue. Nothing.
