This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • ZHP is the ULTIMATE driving machine - 2004 BMW 3-Series
    By -

The 330i costs more money that its competitors and these cars are NOT for everyone. But if you like to drive, dont need a big back seat and have enough money, these cars are second to none. I have a 4 door "performance package" (ZHP) and it is the best compromise between the standard 330i ( a VERY smooth machine) and the somewhat raw M3. The ZHP package will be a rarity since the new Bangle-ized version will be out next year- These cars are almost "throwbacks"- get one while you can!

  • Not for performance at all - 2004 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Ive had this car for 2500 miles now and can only say that it has the worst suspension, and drive by wire system imaginable. There is a 0.5 second delay after you hit the accelerator, and the car bounces, floats, and leans terribly regarding the suspension. The interior is nice and clean. However the performance suffers so greatly, I am going to have to upgrade both the suspension and software to make it livable. I thought it was the break in period, but alas, its made this way. Not recommended for anyone that owned a previous (E36 model years) BMW. The XI version drives more like an SUV than a sedan. For the money, its not worth it.

  • In a word .... amazing - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Really struggled having to turn in my leased 01 Saab 9-3 convertible. I tried Saab 9-3 aero (very nice improvements, but no sport mode so low torque compared to 01), and Audi (not a drivers car). Im now a BMW convert. Just took delivery of my loaded 04 330CiC with SMG and it is incredibly responsive, looks fantastic inside and out, and very quick.

  • Do Not Buy 3.30CI - 2004 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I bought my 3.30CI on the 31st of Jan 2004. It has only 6500 miles on it and the car has been to service 5 (FIVE) times. The passenger door failed first, then the mirrors with interior light. The engine has serious problems too. Especially in the mornings, I can feel the wobbling coming from the engine. I have checked the positive feedbacks but they dont seem right. One of the review says 3.30 has 30-31 MPG, thats IMPOSSIBLE. My BMWs VIN# is WBABD53404PL11978 and I am serious do NOT buy this car because even the service guys dont have an explanation for the problem. My car cost me 45K 3.30CI with all the options. I can send you pics...

  • DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY FOR THIS CRAP - 2004 BMW 3-Series
    By -

The 3.30CI has a great body style but it is a total dissapointment. It was the first month that the passenger door was broken. The alternator failed at 7500 miles. The engine is shaking in the mornings and it is obvious that there is something wrong, where the service people totally disagree. I have heard that there is a software problem of the engine. Be aware that the engine problem is not solved by the BMW engineers. Some of the 10 or 9 point rating reviews are not realistic. I agree that you can not get 30-31 MPG with 3000cc car and there is no model like 3.35CI. Be aware the car...

  • Delightful to drive - 2004 BMW 3-Series

The BMW 330CiC is a wonderful car to drive and never fails to get looks from other drivers. It corners as if on rails but is very composed and comfortable for commutes. The Harmon Kardon sound system gives high-quality performances, even with the top down. A few minor issues with the car were corrected promptly by the dealership. I average 24 mpg in commute/city driving, which is better than I expected. I always look forward to driving it and cant help but smile as I do.

  • qa problems - 2004 BMW 3-Series
    By -

purchased and waited 2 months, the car was in for door and window problems 4 times within 2400 miles, bmw headquaters says that windows are adjusted in germany separetly, just an other way to say qa/qc is a problem previous owner of 5 and 7 series, the car is a gas to drive but seats not as good as on aforementioned net net, surprised at poor qa/qc and dealer, if this continues, the rep they had is going to nose dive
