This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

I am a car nut, had owned 11 in the past 6 years. I have to say that this car is the best so far, even more than my S2000 (and about as fast). Quiet interior, handles great. Thick M steering wheel helps. Shifter not as nice as S2000, but I dont think there is anything in the world that is.

  • Stalling out problem & other problems - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Ever since I purchased my 2004 330CI 6 speed manual, I was the service shop almost every week during the first 3 months of ownership. I had speaker rattle noises coming from the passenger door. Insulation between the speaker and door panel fixed it. Equiped with BMW 18" rims that constantly pulled to the right. BMW ended up replacing 1 tire and tweeked alignment to improve it. Worst problem encountered was the sporadic stalling problem when car was at an idle at a stop light. Engine would just cut out. BMW claims it is a software problem and no current fix at this time and had to temporarily increase my idle speed by 50. I got rid of this car!!

  • Makes me find excuses to drive - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I purchased my convertible bimmer as a replacement for my old Mustang. Ive read a lot of great reviews on the car and its got the classy look Ive been wanting. I went to the dealer and took a test drive and fell in love! I look forward to driving it all the time. I jump when someone needs to run up to the store. I dont mind the brake dust, though it is excessive. It gives me time to admire my ride. :-)

  • New low in customer service - 2004 BMW 3-Series

The car has its fun moments, but you cannot count on BMW customer service team. I have had several incedences where they just didnt stand by their car when something goes wrong. They put their buttom line first. I recently had a tail light replaced and they gave me nothing but poblems. I discovered that it was cracked a day after I had it replaced, but they said it was damaged by road debris. A gremlin would have been a better excuse.

  • Fun city driving - 2004 BMW 3-Series

A bit tight for drives over 100 miles. I bit hard to get in and out for a 60+ youngster, but definitely a great fun car to drive. Great classic looks. Extra power that gets you out of compromissed situations. Real milage consumtion if you want to enjoy the sports feel is 14/15 town, 19/22 road.

  • 2004 more handsome than 2003 - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I waited for the new 2004s, great choice, the new front end is much sharper looking & you get a 6-speed instead of a 5-speed. I could have purchased a dealer close-out 2003 for $3000 less, but happt I waited !!!! Absolutely Fun to drive !! & I believe the nicest looking 3-series to date...easily !!

  • SMG/Sport Fun - 2004 BMW 3-Series

We just purchased an 04 325i with the SMG 6-speed gearbox. Wow! This baby flies. The exterior of the car glows (electric red) and is a blast to drive. I have owned many cars, from Honda, Acura, Ford, Dodge, Chevy, to Mitsubishi, none compare to the solid feel and safety I see and feel with my family in this German bullet. The vehicle comes with two programable keys that have customizable features. I was disappointed to learn that the initial setup of these keys at the service center was not covered in the purchase and runs $40.

  • The Ultimate Disappointment - 2004 BMW 3-Series

The ultimate driving machine was a big dissapointment. Very poor interior quality and design. Back seating lacks leg room and things have started to come undone on my car. Way over priced!
