This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

It was a toss between the 325ci, Infiniti g35 and the Lexus IS. The IS is changing its model next year and its as small as a civic. The Infiniti is still selling @MSRP and it needs tuck up and smooth out that ugly backside. I almost walked away from this car bimmer because of the snotty dealers - esp @Stevens Creek. If you dont want to deal with the stupid dealers take my advice -go through a broker!

This 325xi lives up to the commercial that touts good handling in rotten conditions just unreal to drive live in northeast and it hugged the road in snow and sleet which is why I purchased it !!!!!!!

  • Good, but some build problems - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Overall, this has been the best car Ive owned. My previous cars include a 2001 Corvette Coupe and 1995 Ford Contour. Balance and handling are outstanding. Engine could use a little more power. (My last car was a Corvette, however). I am a little dissapointed in the build quality. Specifically, the speaker in the passenger side door rattles and buzzes the door panel. This is a common problem for the coupes over the years and BMW should have fixed this by now.

  • 330 ci - loved it for 45,000 miles! - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Exterior still looks as beautiful and fresh as the day I bought it (45,000 miles ago). The 3 Series doesnt date quickly like most trendy designed Japanese brands do. Excellent performance and comfort. I wish I could have afford the new M3, but for $15,000 less, this thing holds its own and kicks the tail of anything else in the same $$$ range. Freeway and twisty road performance is awesome.....okay....that makes me want to go drive now.... gotta go......

  • Very Disappointed in this car - 2004 BMW 3-Series

This car has had too many problems and BMW service have not done a good job at addressing them. I am tired of hearing that they cannot duplicate the problem. At about 4K miles the rear differential had to be replaced (with a rebuilt one). Car stalls at idle. One dealer replaced the ignition coil as a fix, but problem occurred within 30 minutes after the fix. Another dealers claimed that there was no problem, but finally admitted that it was an engine software problem for which a fix does not yet exisit. Shifting into 1st gear is hard at times. Speakers rattle. There is excess wind noise at hwy speeds. window regulator had to be replaced. A disappointment.

  • The Best Yet.... - 2004 BMW 3-Series

My third BMW in five years is definitely the best. I had a 99 Z3 2.8 and a 2000 528 previously. I just traded an S-Type 4.0 on the 330cic and its good to be back to BMW. The handling and performance are the best in class. I love the subtle 04 changes to the front end. The six-speed is a blast to drive. Despite only small changes to the car in six years, it still turns heads. Im averaging close to 25 mpg with a 50/ 50 split of in-town and highway driving, which I think is pretty good considering the performance of the car.

  • Simply the best - 2004 BMW 3-Series

My car is actually the 4 door. Ive motorsport susp. sunroof, 10 speaker stereo, leather, plus everything. It handles like a sportscar, is suprisingly smooth for having sports susp. It leaves many true sports cars for dead with its great exceleration and handling. The dash is superb - my only worry is that they may be about to ruin it with the next model. I would really love an M3, but they dont have an auto. After four manual 3-series im loving this auto model.
