This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

I BOUGHT THE 2004 325CI WITH 16 MILES ON IT 3 WEEKS AGO. 2WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS MALFUNCTIONING BETWEEN REVERSE AND DRIVE.I AM TOLD BY THE SALESMAN THAT THE CAR IS A CAR THAT NEEDS TO WARMED BEFORE DRIVING. I DECIDE TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE AND I COME TO FIND THAT THERE IS A SILENT RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION. I AM GIVEN DOCUMENTS STATING , FROM BMW, THAT IF A CUSTOMER COMPLAINS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILING BETWEEN PARK AND DRIVE HE OR SHE IS A CANDIDATE FOR A UPGRADE REPLACEMENT. OTHERWISE IF THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT COMPLAIN DO NOT SAY A THING

  • Harman Kardon is a good upgrade - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Got too sleepy driving a 97 ES300. At test drive the S4 was fun, and A4 clutch is the easiest to use. But the 325xi gives the best road feel and sense of control, and is more comfortable than the X3 with punishing ride even though it performs amazingly for an SUV. The options make the 325xi as exquisite as a Lexus. The 2.5L is smooth and quiet; the car is great to drive and corner, only a bit underpowered. The Harman Kardon is no Mark Levinson, but it has good tonal balance (acoutic enhancement OFF), defined bass, good detail and dynamics, much better than the Nakamichi upgrade on my RX300. I finally enjoy listening to CDs in the car. Well worth the extra cost.

Truly an awesome experience ... the drivers seat feels like you are in the cockpit of an airplane -- and the take- off is perfection. I told someone the other day that if I won the lottery I would not buy another car - that is true satisfaction.

I have always driven Japanese sports cars and never wanted to experience the stiff German ride of BMW or Mercedes. My wife concinced me to get the 325ci convertible and I did ... I will never drive Japanese again. There is nothing like looking past the illuminated orange dash lights on a warm summer night with the top down. What a great car. It has been extremely reliable but most important fun to drive.
