This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • Finally got my BMW - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I waited a long time to get a BMW. Its fun to drive and is the best engineered car I have ever had. Nothing at all on the car is loose, or makes any type of rattle or squeak. The Bluetooth works exceptionally well. The car rides very hard though and has a tremendous amount of road noise due to the Run Flat tires - there is so much road noise and the seats are very uncomfortable so I will not be keeping this car when the lease is up. I love the power folding side mirrors - they really help to make more space in the garage when walking between the two cars.

By far the most overrated car I have ever owned. Interior is slightly above average. Craftmanship is fair to poor. Paint is poor. Tires (Bridgestone RFTs) are the worst ever. BMW NA is the least consumer oriented company I have ever dealt with. I would never buy another BMW again. There are many alternatives in the $35-50,000 range that are considerably better in many ways. Dont be sold on the "Ultimate Driving Machine" hype. Good marketing program but no substance.

  • Greater Than The Sum of Its Parts - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Ive been waiting for BMW to build this car! The design is masculine and evolutionary, exactly what it should be. The interior- beautifully tailored and comfortable, materials are excellent not cheap like you find in the competition. Still very much the drivers car its renowned to be...but better. Stereo - awesome and standard equipment in this car. Xenon lights also standard with the look of its older siblings - very cool. Excellent six speed transmission. 32.1 mpg with just 100 miles on the odometer!! Take a lesson Infiniti, Lexus and Audi - you can add all the horsepower you want, but youll never be this good. Excellent execution!

This car comes as close as I could imagine to an ideal all around car. It is entertaining to drive, exceedingly competent in all weather conditions and has attention to detail and build quality that are both beyond reproach and a source of joy everytime I drive the car. The wagon version gives a lot of flexibility to configure the space behind the driver and front passenger to accomodate a variety of gear and from my perspective the rear hatch is actually more attractive than the trunk on the sedans.

Picked up the car 2 weeks ago. I have been loving every second of it. It seems that the drive gets better and more fun every time I drive it. Driving experience is like no other. Took mother in laws Mercedes E500 out yesterday and I could not wait to get back into my car. Felt like I was driving a boat, not feel for the road. Bmw makes a great machine here.

  • The SPORTS Is Gone, Replaced By Luxury - 2006 BMW 3-Series

BMWs major changes to its 2006 3-Series is fascinating and yet somewhat boring as well. This is my 4th BMW in the 3-Series and while I welcome change, I find myself associating the new design and approach as similar to what Nissan did to its Z cars or what Ford did to its Thunderbird. Sports cars that were fun to drive became fat, boring and touted with luxury instead of sport. I love BMW handling and above all, BMWs intense focus on safety. My 325i 2006 came with i-Drive and the navigation system. Once I get my pilots license, I might have it mastered. Until that time, I really dislike it. Rear view side mirrors are too small and run-flat tires with no spare concern me.

  • Awesome Car! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I have had my new 325i for almost three months now and still make excuses to drive my car. I have found myself driving around just to drive this car. Cant say enough about it. Love, Love, Love it!

  • Tires just burn away - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Let me start by saying its a great car. No questions about that. But I ended up getting a sports package for 325i, which has run flat tires. This was a mistake. Because firstly, they dont last more than 15000 miles. Secondly, there are few companies that make this size run flat tires, so you dont have much option. Thirdly tires are $350 a piece. Plus an alignment would cost $190 at a dealership. It adds a lot to the running cost of the car

  • BMW 3 series - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Purchased new in April and waited until Oct to receive the all wheel drive. Very impressed. A little tight inside, and the pedals are close together, especially for size 12 shoes. Quite surprised as to how much fun this car is to drive. 4 wheel drive with snow tires handles the Vermont winter driving weather very well. Bought almost all of the extras. No sport, or large wheels. Lots of money but should be driving in style for 4 years under warranty.

  • Compliments - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I had never owned a BMW before. Mostly I had driven Japanese model cars. You just dont realize what you are missing in terms of performance and handling until you put the 330i to the test. It is amazing what a difference rear-wheel drive makes in terms of handling.
