This Year's Model Updates:

BMW has seen fit to give the sedans and wagons a facelift for 2002. An in-dash CD player finally makes it onto the standard features list. The center stack has been altered to accommodate the new automatic climate controls. Steptronic automanual operation has been altered so that you move the transmission lever forward for downshifts and backward for upshifts. Bi-xenon headlamps are on the options list so that both low and high beams can glow a cold blue and can be set to automatic operation. Rear side airbags are available for coupes and convertibles. Two new colors, Electric Red and Gray Green (and a Natural Brown interior leather) join the color spectrum.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

We test drove the M-B E320 AWD, the Jaguar X-type 3.0, the Audi A4 Quattro, the Subaru H6-3.0 VDC Sedan and a few others; we have experience driving Porsches and other performance cars. The xi performs brilliantly; to get better performance and handling would cost over $10,000 more (e.g., the M3). We are just delighted with this vehicle.

Just got back from test driving a 330i with Perf & Sport pack and Steptronic. Incredible. This car is flat-out brilliant. I currently own a 99 323i - has been hands-down the best car Ive ever owned. Not sure if I should sell it because the experience has been truly stunning. After 3 years it just gets better and better (33K and it drives exactly like new). But the 330i is a special car that in my estimation offers the best blend of performance, luxury and quality of any sports sedan.

dont go for the sport sedan imitations (lexus is 300, audi a4, benz c320) - get the original and the best at the same time - get a 3 series

This is a great handling family car. Feels much like the 1997 Z3 2.8 I owned. I also own an S2000, so I didnt feel the need for the more powerfull 3.0. As a commuter vehicle the 325i is comfortable, reliable and gets about 27 miles to the gallon on the highway. It has a cruising range of over 400 miles. While the basic car is a bargain, the options are pricey. With leather, premium package, zenon lights, winter package, and stereo upgrade the net was $32,700 after a 4+% discount which I had to shop for. This is a really good car, practical yet quite sporty and fun to drive.

  • Fun to drive - 2002 BMW 3-Series

If you value "fun to drive," this is the car to own. There are other well-made luxuary cars that offer a better value," but none was able to offer the perfect combination of fun to drive, safty, worksman ship and elegant styling inside and out all in one package. If you shop carefully, it is possible to buy one with $500-1000 above invoice. Also, remember that 325i starts at $28000!

My wife and I had a 328i Sedan, very nice car and no problems what so ever. We bought this car in February of 2003 new of the lot, super ride, fast, cool looking. We had some problems with the xenon lights and some noises in the interior of the car. But overall we are very happy with this car. Probably the next time no coupe but the new 5 series.

  • I like it alot - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I have had the car in heavy rain and light snow, as well as loose gravel. I performs better than I expected and is a lot of fun to drive, and I really like the looks of it.
