This Year's Model Updates:

BMW has seen fit to give the sedans and wagons a facelift for 2002. An in-dash CD player finally makes it onto the standard features list. The center stack has been altered to accommodate the new automatic climate controls. Steptronic automanual operation has been altered so that you move the transmission lever forward for downshifts and backward for upshifts. Bi-xenon headlamps are on the options list so that both low and high beams can glow a cold blue and can be set to automatic operation. Rear side airbags are available for coupes and convertibles. Two new colors, Electric Red and Gray Green (and a Natural Brown interior leather) join the color spectrum.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • Nothing but the finest - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I ordered my BMW 330 CIC through the BMW European Delivery plan. The substantial savings allowed us to drive the vehicle through four European countries and cover the cost of a great vacation. The vehicle handled very well on the autobaun and cruised comfortably at 100 mph. The steering, suspension and body are tight and the interior detail is first class. Paintwork and fit are extraordinary. The car has exceeded my expectations in every area and I would recommend the 330 CIC to any one that is looking for a quality, upscale convertible. Super ride.

I used to own a 1999 328 which was excellent, my 2002 330i is even better (more power) and I enjoyed it a lot when I picked it up in Munich, Germany. With more power it still gives me good mileage and its engine is so willing to drive fast (it start to accelerate more when you reach 100+ mph!!)

Fantastic car. Handles like a dream, looks great inside and out. Tons of well thought out features, beautifully designed interior. Superb manual transmission, brakes, cornering. Loaded with safety features.

If you enjoy performance driving this is the car for you. This car begs to be pushed to its limits. I drove a Boxter and the Bimmer handles better.

  • Get this one if you are looking for a safe car. - 2002 BMW 3-Series

This was my first car, purchased it used, and I had it for exactly one month. The car itself overpowered my abilities as a new driver, and I would suggest that only experienced drivers use this car! The brakes were spongy, despite being new performance brakes. I had to really slam on them in order to get the car to stop. The car has a nice, comfortable interior and the controls are a little counter intuitive at first (being a German car) but you will adjust quickly. Also, the leather interior will split at the seams if not taken care of. Overall a nice car for someone who appreciates good handling and a balanced, powerful car. ***I was in a 40 mph head on collision in this car. I ran it directly into a tree. I totaled the car, but came out of the accident unscathed. I had some minor burns on my arms from the air bag, and a mild concussion, but I was otherwise kept safe. The air bags deployed properly, and the car crumpled as it should have. The passenger cab of the vehicle was kept in tact and I had no issues getting out of the car. If safety is a priority for you, I can tell you from first hand experience that this car will keep you safe.***

  • Best first car - 2002 BMW 3-Series

Wow!! This is such a great car!! I just got it for my 16th birthday! I drove an audi, infiniti, tsx and some may be a little faster but i cant tell. I like the way the steering wheel is really tight. I got the premium and sport package the heated seats xenon lights leather auto wood trim and HK sound system. All of those options are great! You wont regret buying this car.

  • Acceleration delay - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I want to love this car, but there is a signicant delay in the acceleration response. I was told by the dealership mechanic that this is a "problem" with the 2002s - a redesign that removed the cabling and now uses electionics instead. Most noticable when road conditions require a quick acceleration, a few times left me questioning the saftey of this "ultimate driving machine." I was told by the dealer that a half-second delay is acceptable (I can hit the floor with the pedal and bring it back up before the engine responds).

  • BMW 330i is overpriced; lacks space - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I bought the BMW330i because of the rave reviews at Edmunds.com. It does handle quite well, is a lot of fun to drive, and lets face it, part of driving a BMW is pure showing off that you can afford one. I made the mistake of getting the automatic transmission, thinking that the city stop-and-go traffic would be worth it, but it isnt. Ive had both the manual and auto, and manual is better-- much more fun. The automatic is very smooth, but the Steptronic shifting is a bit shaky--no substitute for the real manual.

Noone can go wrong with buying the 325 or 330 Convertible. These are simply the best in the class 4 door compact convertibles which provide the best hanldling automobiles. The solid feel at high speeds, absolute stunning looks and perennial head-turner.
