This Year's Model Updates:

BMW has seen fit to give the sedans and wagons a facelift for 2002. An in-dash CD player finally makes it onto the standard features list. The center stack has been altered to accommodate the new automatic climate controls. Steptronic automanual operation has been altered so that you move the transmission lever forward for downshifts and backward for upshifts. Bi-xenon headlamps are on the options list so that both low and high beams can glow a cold blue and can be set to automatic operation. Rear side airbags are available for coupes and convertibles. Two new colors, Electric Red and Gray Green (and a Natural Brown interior leather) join the color spectrum.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • driving used to be a bore - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I hve driven this automobile in driving nighttime rain, through snowy mountain passes, the deserts of the southwest, windstorms that closed mountain passes and finally, cold icy roads in Alaska. It has always been a joy to drive.

Great overall car. Superb performance and comfort with timeless styling. Mechanically trouble-free, minor fit and finish item with interior door seal.

  • I hate this car - 2002 BMW 3-Series

There is always something wrong with this car. The top quit working, the trunk lid wont catch properly, the all-window switch broke, the auto door locks stick, the brake rotors are wear items(!!), the covering has worn off the center console, the glove box wont open. I will admit it drives great, but I cannot accept the constant stream of annoyances. BMW customer care couldnt care less. Ill NEVER own another BMW.

  • The only car for me - 2002 BMW 3-Series

This is the only car I want so I will skip the laurels and talk about the downside. I bought the 2 yr old with a recent inspection through a broker and saved $10000 over a new one. The next week the service engine soon light came on, the dealer replaced parts under warrentee but said I needed new belts and a break flush for $250. The next day the battery died and the car was towed back to the dealer for replacement. The next week the headliners came off and back to the dealer. BMW service is a zoo, sooo many cars all the time. But this car hits all the right buttons for me!

  • Why do BMWs fall apart so fast? - 2002 BMW 3-Series

At first it was a passionate love affair every drive was special. But now, only 20,000 miles later . . . Im looking to get out of it. Combine the arrogance of their dealers, with the abnoxious behavior of their NJ HQs personnel, and what do you have? A terrible product that, even though it drives well, isnt worth the grief that it puts you through. Things gone wrong: 1. suspension bushing fell out 2. drinks coolant (and no one knows where it goes) 3. its on its 3rd set of cup holders 4. radio speakers giving up the ghost 5. AC always recirculates cant stop 6. steering wheel squeeks (but only when away from the dealership) 7. other probs 2.

I love this car! I just purchased it used and I have to say everything I read about this car is the absolute truth. The power delivery, the handling, the connectiveness to the road, the luxury. All in combination makes for a terrific vehicle.

  • Still the Benchmark Performance Marque - 2002 BMW 3-Series

This is my 2nd BMW, the other a 7 series. This 325Ci has the same "connected" road feel and precise permormance characteristics elevated to a higher degree. The controls have a firm, positive feel andeverything is always in control, smooth and stable at any speed. The "performance package" offers great seats, but my only complaint is that they are annoying to adjust manually...switching drivers takes some setting up time.

  • Wow, now this is a car!!!!!!!!! - 2002 BMW 3-Series

This is a car as it should be. To say it is fun to drive is a big understatement. It continues to amaze me for what it can do. It fits like a glove and always does what I ask it to. And I ask a lot of it! Rain, sleet, snow. No problems there. A bit rough on the body on day-long drives though due to the sport suspension. Hops a little on rough curvey roads. But, always ends up where you want it to. All said, I wouldnt ever buy anything else.

The 330CI is my third car. Hands down it definately out racks the rest. The handling is AWSOME. Definately worth the bucks.
