This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • HIGHLY RECOMENDED - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I PURCHASED THE 04 330CI IN AUGUST AND IT IS BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. THE SIX SPEED MANUAL IS FUN TO DRIVE. THE SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE AND THE PERFORMANCE FOR ME IS GREAT. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD NOT THINK OF THIS CAR AS HIGHLY PERFORMANCE ORIENTED BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IN FREEWAY DRIVING IT HOLDS THE ROAD VERY WELL AND ALWAYS WANTS TO GO FASTER!! A GREAT CAR!!!

I have only had the car three weeks but it is the finest vehicle I have ever driven. I tried Corvette,Jaguar, etc no comparision to the BMW. It is a PLEASURE! to drive. The handling, style, looks is fantastic.

This precison workhorse of machine is incredibly fun to drive with the tight suspension of the sport package and 17" alloy rims with the accompanying Conti Sport performance tires. The acceleration is head and shoulders above the 325, the 323 and the 328. It has consistent torque and power above 3000 RPM up to 100MPH. The layout of the interior and the overall feel of the car as a solid dynamic whole give it tremendous attitude as a touring master. This will go down as a classic BMW model and apart from the M which may be a bit over the top, may be the crown jewel of the 3 series thus far in this owners opinion.

I have extensively test driven many cars before my purhase. Some cars I have tested had more power, but none came close to the handling and solid feeling of a this car. Truly fun to drive. The service at Koni BMW in Beaverton, and specially at BMW Northwest in Fife is excellent.

Ive only had the car for a few weeks but this is easily the best all around car Ive ever owned. Its fit/finish and comfort are almost perfect.

You will not know what the word "The Ultimate Driving Machine" really mean until you step into this car and feel the responsiveness. The turns are tight and well taken with a cool feature called Dynamic Stability Control. If you want to experience it to the utmost dont skimp out on the Sport Package - its well worth it.

I moved from a 1986 Acura Legend (first US model) to the 325i Bimmer due to a favorable military overseas purchase price. The BMW is what they say it is but it is not perfect. I find the layout of buttons regulating windows (in the center console) to be awkward compared to almost all other cars with controls mounted on the door armrest area if you live in a gated community, the frequent use of this item can be a nuisance. The trunk is too small for more than one set of golf clubs! Otherwise, this machine is impeccable in construction and the performance is outstanding, especially at high speeds!

  • BMW BUYER BEWARE - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I purchased my 2004 330ci coupe in 08/2003. As I drove it home and I slide the sunroof cover closed it the plastic retaining clips holding the cover broke. BMW fixed it with metal clips. 2nd problem battery died due to heat seats software problem left one of the battery cells on after car was turned off and drained the battery. BMW fixed this by updating software and replacing battery. 3rd problem I ran out of gas when the gas gauge showed 1/4 tank of gas left. Fuel sensor gets clogged and fuel gauge stops working. Bmw does not have a fix for this accept to clean the fuel sensor with a easer the 1st time and replace the sensor the 2nd time. Im sorry I sold my Toyota 4Runner!

  • Great car but reliability is awful - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I fell in love with the look, performance, and premium features of this car. Ive owned it for 2.5 years and it has been at the dealer for repairs about 12 times. No major problems but problems nonetheless that require constant repairs. Defective battery, leaking headlight washer system, broken trunk lock, rattling convertible top, squeeky window, the list goes on and on. I bought this car and babied it, planning to keep it forever. Im not planning to dump it as Im sure once the warranty is out I will be getting killed on repair bills. Ill never buy another BMW.
