This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

Sitting in this car is definitely different from my former Volvo 850; my legs occasionally ache while driving, but I shall adjust, otherwise, I love my car! The handling is excellent, it is roomy in the back for a tall gal like myself, the new design turns heads, (including my own), and I love the neat gadgets, such as the cooling device for my drinks. It is awkward to have a drink placed inside while driving; I am used to using that area as an arm rest. My car "beeps" out of the blue; I dont know why; neither does the reps at BMW--its not a seatbelt problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Also, I love checking my oil using the display screen and that BMW will contact me for service.

I just picked up a new 325 with the Premium and Sport packages. Unimpressed with the 2005 version, THIS little rocket maintains the pure driving fun while reducing the road noise and jitter. Its truly the best of both worlds. I cant sit still at home now -- I just want to drive... somewhere... ANYWHERE!!! The car stays flat on hard turns, doesnt plow on hard braking, leaps upon acceleration. Were bonding, we really are! Okay, gotta run. Ive gotta drive across town for uh, something. = :)

I was at the "coming out" party for the new 3 at Chelsea Piers in New York and fell in love immediately. I traded in my 2002 325 and just picked up my new 3 on May 10th. I got the sport package, and the only down side is the ride is a bit choppy on bad roads. Could be the run-flats. iDrive is greatly simplified; most controls are off the steering wheel. Great seats, much more refined than the previous 3. Much quieter with extraordinary feel and a real luxurious cabin that oozes sophistication. Stereo upgrade is just so so, but the iDrive gives the dash a second hump which looks much better than the regular interior. iDrive is a cinch...no big deal. What an engine; silky smooth, no growl.

  • Somewhat disappointed - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This is my third 3 series BMW in the last 5 years. Ive previously owned a 325xi and my last 2 have been 330xis so I feel Im fairly qualified to write an objective review. The 2006 body style is terrific and the interior appointments are far better than previous years. The seats are comfortable and seem to wrap around your body like a glove. The overall ride experience is firmer than my previous cars and I do not seem to get the same "rush" when stepping on the gas as my 2003 330xi. The lack of body side molding is a problem as I already have dings where side-molding should have been. The radio (even with Sirius) is average and the cup-holders are woefully inadequate. This car is just Ok.

  • I love my first Bimmer - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Ive had this car for 4 months and 6K miles, and it seems to drive better each day. The RFTs are no issue, and I have not taken it back to the shop for any reason. the handling with the steering and SP is awesome. It is a little bumpy on bad, patched up roads, but 90% of the time Im on decent roads and its a blast to drive, especially in manual.

  • 325xi - Solid for the Money - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Had this car for a year - looked at Audi 2.0, Acura TL and Lexus IS and for the money and build quality I chose the BMW. One thing to remember is the 4 years 50K bumper to bumper. The car looks good and is fun to drive.

  • The best ever - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I drove my sons 2002 325 manual for a year - I did no like it, I have posted a message to this respect. Now, this 2006 also a manual is a totally different thing, I love it and I am convinced it will be grow to be a legend. Please do not buy this car as an automatic it make no sense. The only reason one would want an automatic is the heavy traffic on an incline. This manual solved this problem by engaging in the 1st gear just by releasing the clutch and then it you are on an incline the beaks release only when the clutch is engaged therefore there is zero rollback. Thank you BMW.

  • BMW has raised the bar on sedans! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I just bought a 330i and it is hands down the best vehicle in the 35-45K class. I test drove the Acura TL and the G35x AWD and the BMW blows them away. The ride is great and the suspension handles everything well. You never feel like youre not in control of the vehicle. I love the new styling and the extras on the vehicle put it in a class by itself. Bluetooth phone system, BMW assist, Xenon headlights, heated leather seats just to name a few. The 8-way power driver and passenger seats are very comfortable and have good support. If you are looking for a entry-level luxury sedan, look no further than the new 3-series.

  • Faaaast and safe, corners at 100mp/h - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Amazing handling, I drove this car today at 135mph and still felt as if I could push it more! Magnificent handling, the feeling is amazing, you can practically feel the 4 feels grabbing the blacktop. Sports mode shifter is great, the automatic clutch is a bit slow but not distracting once used to it. Brakes are amazing too! Had to bring the car from 90 to 0 in a short distance but handled beutifully (still alive thanks to the brakes) :) Will never buy anything other than BMW after this :)
