This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • I love my 2006 330i - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This is a great car! I have always loved how fun it is. I love it even more now because I was stopped in traffic on the freeway and someone slammed in to me. You would not believe how well my car held up, I was able to drive it away while the other car was totalled and towed. My 5 year old was in the backseat and I was driving pregnant, and we came out great. I feel so safe in this car!

  • Superb driving dynamics - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Excellent handling dynamics. Very planted and balanced at all speeds and very stable 75-85 Mph. Highway fuel economy 31-33 mpg. I have owned this vehicle for over a year with 30K miles on it. Buying a 2007 model with sport package. Keep options limited to premium package and automatic transmission. Xenon not a required option. Struggles with full load, fine with up to 2 occupants.

Very happy with this purchase. Ride is great. Lots of nice features. Just took it on a 1000mi trip and it was by far the most comfortable road trip Ive ever taken. Handles corners comfortably at least 15 mph faster than my previous car.

  • Great car minus run-flat tires - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Bought a pre-owned 06 325i with Sport, Premium, etc. Car had 9500 miles at purchase. Had a 4 tire replacement worked into my deal as the tires were extremely loud. So, the noise is gone for now. Other than the tires, the car is outstanding. Build quality really jumps out at me. Handles very well and is extremely efficient, 31.7 mpg on the highway.

  • Happy 2006 325i owner - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I absolutely love this car. The new exterior design is sharp and in my opinion looks better than the older model... and I liked the look of the older models. The new design is hot and sporty. The added power is a nice bonus. Its loaded with standard features. Things I didnt have the last time I bought a car... mp3 player and power moonroof/sunroof just to name 2. Its only been a week and I cant stop driving... nearing 800 miles. =( But I love it.

  • My First BMW! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I thoroughly enjoy my first BMW! I have a 2006 330i. Not only is it absolutely beautiful, but it drives like a dream and its very fast! I really have to keep watch on the speedometer! I was impressed with all the safety features. BMW went beyond what is necessary to make this a very safe car. Im short, so I fit in it fine. However, I can see how a larger person might find it a "small" car. Also, the rim around the bottom of the car is only a few inches from the road, so this part of the car stays dirty. I wish it was a bit higher. The tires are incredibly expensive, so I purchased wheel and tire insurance.

  • Sexy, Sporty, Sleek - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This is my 1st BMW - Jet Black with Terra int, except it didnt have the navigation system. I have to say, I will never go back to any other vehicle again. This car screams with style and class. I did a lot of research before purchasing the 330i. Theres just no comparison. I am truly impressed with every detail of this car, from the self adjusting xenon lights, to the start/stop button. And the stereo system is amazing. It is truly a driving machine and handles the road impeccably. My patience for a new vehicle was definitely worth the wait.

My first BMW. What was I waiting for? It is unbelievable. It performs incredibly. The power, the roar of the engine. It gets lots of looks and compliments. It handles well and is really comfortable for a sport compact.

  • E90 6MT 330i is a very balanced drivers car - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Previously driving a 1994 325i that was a really great car, in addition to a saab 9-3. Ive been driving my 330i for 5 years now having purchased with 88k, and now at 174k. It has been a very reliable vehicle WITH proper maintenance. I have done the normal items on these cars- water pump, thermostat, control arms, shocks/struts. My factory clutch is still holding fine. I have done rear wheel bearings as well, and adding adjustable rear camber has greatly increased my tire wear on the staggered sport wheels. I highly recommend it, it will save you money in the long run. Lifters can be noisy if you take short rides, or long rides at low rpm... just run the engine above 2k for a few miles to circulate oil up top and you wond have any problems. I have the BMW performance suspension, on Eibach pro-kit springs, and while it handles beautifully, the ride is a bit harsh on bad roads. The sport seats are firm, but supportive and do a great job of holding you in place in the twisties. The ergonomics are "BMW" That is to say they are excellent. The only thing I would change is the distance between the brake and throttle pedal. My e36 was much easier to "heel/toe" during shifting. Ive gotten used to the switch from right to left with the cruise- I love the simple BMW cruise interface and I dont understand why other manufacturers go with buttons and switches- just a simple stalk works great. With over 170k on the odo, I wouldnt hesitate to hop in my car and go anywhere. The 2006 has the controversial "Mustache" grill and I have to admit-I like it. I dont feel like most BMSs ever look dated- and this design is the same. Although its obviously not new, it still looks muscular, serious, & classy. I have my chrome either plasti-dipped or vinyl wrapped for a "shadowline" look. I honestly cant get very excited about the latest line of 3 series- They seem vague when driving, but hopefully BMW will get their Electric powersteering tuned in a bit better. The 330i e90 is a rare classic. Although it doesnt have the power of the 335- it also doesnt have the problems. Its beautifully balanced and very linear. I always feel special driving my 330, and I can drive it hard out of corners without it getting out of shape. Its been a great car.

  • As good as it gets - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This is a 2nd BMW we have. We have a X3. I have this new 2006 325xi for about 1 month now. It has exceed my expectation in many ways. The combination of power and handling is just about perfect. I thought X3 was great until I brought the 325xi. The handling is so precise and fun to drive. I am very glad that I chose the 325xi instead of the Lexus 250 or Acura TL. I read many negative comments about run flat tire. So far, I did not have any problem or complain about them. They are doing just fine.
