Overview & Reviews
For 2000 3 Series coupes, convertibles and wagons are all new; the hatchback has been discontinued. After last year's complete redesign, 2000 sedans see only minor improvements.
- Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners.
- Pricey for their market segment, limited rear seat and cargo capacity.

One of the best cars ever!! - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By Fender58 - October 19 - 2:00 amI have had this car for about four weeks I bought used 2000 model with 57,700 mls. on it. I wanted a 540i, but, couldnt really afford one (without robbing Peter to pay Paul). Car is extremely responsive, smooth, handles superb basically, everything I expected it to be and more. There is something to all the hype about BMWs. It has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager to own a BMW. I will definately get another one when the time comes.

Love it but problems - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By RPHSR - October 13 - 10:00 amHave put 85000 miles on it since 01/00. Mostly highway. Need to repaint ($1475) bumper, hood, front of fenders, not so much from stone chips but from tiny white speckels from worn away paint. BMW provided parts(I the labor $271) at 69000 to rebuild the front steering.Under warranty replaced front rotors and pads, trunk lock twice, power moonroof once, wood trim on driver handle (now cracked again). Love my Harmom/Kardon sound.

Slack-jawed - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By Hootie361 - September 14 - 2:00 amI finally understand why people take "joy rides" in their cars. The performance of this sedan is superb on the twisting, dipping, back-country roads near my residence. The engine power is impressive, the transmission shifts are smooth, the tires hug the road, the breaks stop on a dime...the car lives up to the title of "ultimate driving machine". For high speed driving, I recommend a high-end set of tires...my all seasons transmit vibrations starting at 85mph (but disappear around 100mph). The car is absolutely convenient, only had 2 minor (<$20 fix) problems so far.

BMW Driver - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By pekiii - September 12 - 2:00 amThis vehicle amazes me in how well it is made. The fit and attention to detail is unmistakably obvious. Unlike ANY american car with as many miles 88K in four years there is simply no comaprison. I would rather spend 20K on a used BMW than a new american car. Forget Italian, Swedish, French even Japanese or Korean cars. Germany is were the only true automobile is engineered. P.S. Im involved on a daily basis with automobile mfg. plants throughout the midwest and only foreign owned and operated mfg. are really concerned with making a superior product. Visteon and Delphi will be bankrupt within 20 years. The American business model is to blame.

expensive to maintain - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By bagua - September 2 - 2:00 amOverall a decent car but once its over warranty its not worth having due to extremely high repair costs. Could use more power at times. One major complaint is the drivers seat has no support, becomes very uncomfortable quickly and I only have 50000 miles on the car so the seats should have held out longer than that I would have thought. The brakes are very high maitenance and dont have a very long life. If I ever buy another BMW I would only buy or lease new.

Very Satisfied, but - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By Upstate - August 19 - 2:00 amOverall, the performance, roadhandling, and drivability of this model BMW is outstanding. Also, the interior design and comfort is all you could ask for from this size vehicle. The one disappointment is its poor road handling on snowy roads. My car came with 17" low profile all-season tires that track very poorly on snowy roads. Snow tires are a must in winter environments. Another negative impact of cold weather on my BMWs engine is about a 20% reduction in gas mileage.

Best Car in the Desert - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By Living in Phoenix - August 15 - 2:00 amGreat car for the everyday commute. Awesome when you get on the open road, and leaves you feeling safe and snug with the handeling abilities and numerous safety features in the city. I cant wait to purchase the next one! One note, you must keep up on the preventative maint., seems a bit costly at first, but these cars go forever.

One great Three! - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By ctyson - August 10 - 2:00 amThis car is a blast to drive! Do youself a favor a put on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. Premium rubber will take your 3 to the next level - its well worth the cost. I recently took a trip up to CT where I blew the doors off my brother-in-laws new S-Type Jaguar with a 4.2 V8! When I hit 140mph my 328i still felt rock solid going around highway bends as he disappeared in my rear-view mirror.

A very pleasant ride - 2000 BMW 3-Series
By Ron Gilkey - August 5 - 2:00 amConsidering the 3-Series is the "bottom of the line" BMW, this is the finest automobile i have owned. It has a very smooth ride, great acceleration and plenty of power, and provides very responsive handling. The road noise is minimal - it is almost a pleasure to drive in total quiet, but why waste the audio system with 10 speakers that surround you? Free maintenance for 36000 miles is ok with me too! If i were shopping for another car, it certainly would be in the BMW line
