This Year's Model Updates:

For 2000 3 Series coupes, convertibles and wagons are all new; the hatchback has been discontinued. After last year's complete redesign, 2000 sedans see only minor improvements.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear seat and cargo capacity.

  • BMW owner for life - 2000 BMW 3-Series

This is an extraordinary car: Ive driven it across the country twice, and Im ready to go again. Tight suspension, beautiful interior, and amazing mileage (about 29 mpg with a combination of city and highway) considering its a sports sedan. This is my first BMW, and I expect it to own it for many more years...and when its finally time to upgrade, Im going back to BMW. How about a hydrogen-powered model? BMW is the kind of company that could pull it off.

  • Fun but costly - 2000 BMW 3-Series

My wife and I purchased this vehicle without knowing a lot about bmws. Several things have just somehow broken on us over the past year and for no reason at all. We have had 2 window regulators go out, 1 that needs to be replaced, and the entire "Brain" of the vehicle has malfunctioned. This is basically the computer system. No big deal, just $3k dollars. For the past 3 months it seems like its just one thing after another. Not to mention vapor shields, a new master key ($200) and the sun roof breaking. Like the title of this review says, It is a fun car to drive, and it looks great, but have some money saved up, cause itll cost you.

  • Still Fun After All These Years - 2000 BMW 3-Series

Bought my bright red 323i Sedan 4 yrs ago with 14K miles on it. The car has been a blast to drive and supremely reliable. Have 82K miles on it and just replaced the front brakes. Other than that, I have had ZERO problems with this car. The exterior paint looks new and the car still draws approving glances from passersby. I average about 28mpg and that is good news in this era of skyrocketing gas prices. I now understand why BMWs hold their value.

  • My Take on early E46 productions - 2000 BMW 3-Series

We bought this car used at 30K on it. Very good condition at the time. Several warranty works were done to it even before we had got it. Did not get that info until I took it for another warranty work. Now, transmission is out at only 64.5K on it, 2 Years after we had it. We are BMW devotees and do own other BMWs classic to modern. But this one has pushed us to the limit. To boot to that, BMW N.A is not a help at all. That 800 number is a joke, the staff is untrained & unqualified. Bottom lin is that BMW is not what it was used ot be. A car company with great reputation and great cars is in demise. No customer support, no reliable production. I will probably end up not buying another one.

  • Bets car I ever owned - 2000 BMW 3-Series

I bought this vehicle three months ago. Initially I was little hesitating to go for a used car (its a 2000) model. But I know now that my choice was the best. Awesome handling, Good gas mileage (around 29mpg). This car has Manual Transmission with sport package and I love the way it performs.

  • 2 years in the life of the 2000 323Ci - 2000 BMW 3-Series

If you are considering the 323Ci, please get the sports package w/17 in. rims..makes this car look AWESOME! The ride and handling make this car truly fun to drive, although it does lack power, then again, I could not justify the extra $8K for 20 more horses in the 328 model. Despite buying one of the least expensive models (only upgrades were HK stereo, sports pack, and CD) friends always guess I paid $10K more than I did.

  • One year later - 2000 BMW 3-Series

Bought my 323it a year ago and I love it more than the day I drove it off the lot! Best car I have ever owned..hands down. The handling in city driving cant be beat - smooth acceleration, precision steering. The ride is still quiet and in no way feels like there are 52,000 miles under its wheels. Weekend getaways are a joy. With the roof rack system we purchased for luggage carrying, it is actually more roomy inside on these trips than my 4Runner was. And the drop down separator in the back seat has been a lifesaver with two boys under 13! Love it, love it, love it.

  • Sport package w/ 17" rims - 2000 BMW 3-Series

Getting ready to turn in my 3yr lease vehicle and Im not wanting to give it back! This car gave me zero problems in the 3yrs that Ive driven it. This is my 2nd bimmer and will not be my last. When I first picked it up, everyone thought it was the new M3 (in 99) because of the sport package (really glad I got that option). :-)

Absolutely rock-solid. No reliability issues of any kind. If I had it to do again, I would have purchased the Sport package. Otherwise no regrets.
