Overview & Reviews
A standard-wheelbase version of the A8 is introduced this year for those who don't need all the size of the A8 L, along with a tire-pressure monitor, rain-sensing wipers and LED lighting for the door handles and mirror controls. New optional equipment includes a keyless entry and start system, a wood steering wheel and shift knob, satellite radio and power door closers for the front and rear side doors. Horsepower has been bumped up to 335 (from 330). A 6.0-liter W12 power plant, which provides 450 hp, 428 lb-ft of torque, has also been added.
- Superb driving dynamics, plenty of passenger space, exquisite interior, standard all-wheel drive.
- Inconvenient glovebox location for the CD changer.

just do it - 2005 Audi A8
By BENAVA - December 5 - 11:06 pmIf you are looking for a fun, luxurious, performance sedan , look no furthur. I have had a number of luxury automobiles, including the BMW 7-Series, the Mercedes-Benz S500., and Lexus. This is by-far the most any car enthusiasts can ask for. I traded in a 2004 BMW 7-Series for it. JUST DO IT

If not Perfection, damn close! - 2005 Audi A8
By bob damato - December 1 - 11:10 pmThe A8 "Short" model is absolutely incredible. The interior absolutely blows away any MB, BMW or any other automobile made - at any price... This car feels and drives like it made from a solid billet block of aircraft aluminum. Handling is suberb, with the wheel allowing road feel to come right thru to my hands without being loose. The tracking of the car is like nothing else Ive ever driven. Body and interior finish is exquisite. The Ameretto interior with the Maple wood is an exquisite color combination. You have three ride options that all feel tight and controlled. I leave it on "Auto" and it works just fine. The transmission is seamless and accelerateion incredible.

Some disappointments here...2004 model - 2005 Audi A8
By l cavin - November 27 - 3:20 amFast, good looking sedan with plenty of room inside. Good gas mileage, especially on highway. Annoying nav system and MMI operation. Quirky transmission.

My views on the Audi A8L - 2005 Audi A8
By Lawrence Hahn - October 21 - 2:00 amDuring some minor bodywork, the battery had to be disconnected, after which the MMI was inoperative. Now, I cant use the sound system or nav system. Local Audi dealer could not restore MMI and claims he must order new nav system CD, which I find difficult to believe. I love this car but cannot understand why Audi felt it necessary to incorporate MMI which results in a simple operation such as turning on radio or changing temp settings to a demanding task, reqiring pulling off the road.

worth it - 2005 Audi A8
By big h - October 21 - 2:00 amsleek on the outside and soft and seemless on the inside. handles great and interior features are easy to use. drives like youre sitting on your living room couch with good pick up and turns on a rail. the only down side is an obnoxious continous ringing noise when the door is open and the key is still in the ignition (even when in park)and continous beeping when seat belt is not in use. could use a couple more locations for service, but otherwise, is spectacular.

Best car Ive ever owned - 2005 Audi A8
By love my audi - October 11 - 2:00 amLeased a 05 A8L, Beige, Ameretto interior (special order). All the goodies except parktronic. Chose it over s430, LS430, XJ8, and the 745. After looking at them all it was an easy decision. Now that Ive put 2500 mile on the car a few observations. Smooth, fast, seems lighter that it is, interior is exquisite, back seat and trunk are enormous. Drivers seat is the most comfortable seat Ive ever sat in. Love the XM radio. On-Star is nice, just hope I never need it! Best car Ive ever owned
