Overview & Reviews
The A6 gets a new 220-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 to replace last year's 2.8-liter. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is available on front-wheel-drive models with this engine. Other mechanical changes this year include stronger brakes, an improved stability control system and BrakeAssist. OnStar telematics makes its way onto the options list, and you'll be pleased to find a standard six-disc changer in the dashboard. Styling in and around the car, such as the head and taillamps, is slightly modified and new interior and exterior colors expand your choices.
- Large selection of engines, well-appointed interior, all-wheel-drive stability.
- Non-linear steering, questionable exterior styling.

Pathetic Reliability - 2002 Audi A6
By demoralized - November 4 - 2:00 amGreat car if you want to know your service dealer really well as car is in shop over 35 days/15 months for a variety of mechanical problems, some of which can not be fixed even after 5 attempts.

Timeless Audi - 2002 Audi A6
By newtoaudi2002 - April 21 - 2:00 amGreat car overall. Love the 3.0 engine in the sport mode(S). Lots of interior & trunk space for a relatively compact exterior. Timeless design that is certainly more distinctive than an E320. Gas mileage is less than the E320 4MATIC it replaced in combined city/highway driving

Tranny woes - 2002 Audi A6
By S. Wild - March 6 - 2:00 amI love the styling, the power, the handling... but I hate the transmission! Would you ever shift into 5th at 25 mph? This car does. Its either bogged down or revved up around corners - a little frightening. Love the trip-tronic, but hubby doesnt do that. Ever. Youd better have a garage, cause this baby doesnt like New England winters - it whines and groans. And the wiper blades! Summer-type only, Audi-brand only ($25), that cant take any ice. The $90 rubber floor mats let water leak onto the carpet... Gimme my old Volvo AWD! Ok, so Ill miss the handling...

My 2002 4.2 - 2002 Audi A6
By John Hill - February 28 - 2:00 amPreviously owned 2000 2.7 T. Crashed it into a tree and bought the 2002 4.2 new at the begi9nning of 2003. Smooth power, excellent handling. Interior first class. Tiptronic on steering wheel is nice little gimmick.MPG seems to be about 18.0, but wife driving mostly in town. In a word, the car is solid, solid, solid.

so far so good - 2002 Audi A6
By Sdkv101 - August 22 - 2:00 amWell its been a month since i purchased my A6. I have been a frequent bmw driver for 4 years but receieved poor customer service from bmw. So i decided to buy an A6. I was warned by consumers that there were reliability problems. So far so good! People usually buy car for looks and handling and the A6 has both. It is a lease so im not worried when it comes off warranty, because its not my problem anymore. Also, I have leased all my previous bmw and nothing beats audi/vws leasing program! Way to go Audi!!! Its Good But It Could Be Great!! - 2002 Audi A6
By Ed-d - July 30 - 2:00 amThe A6 is a great looking and great driving car but the small problems that arise detract from the cars appeal. On day one the window motors were a problem and they have been a problem for the past 35 months. Add to this heated seats that dont always heat and a heated steering wheel that never heated (it took the dealer 12 months to "resolve" the problem and it was never really fixed). Lastly, dashboard indicators go dark periodically. Do you think they have an electrical issue to resolve at Audi?

Very Happy! - 2002 Audi A6
By Art123 - July 3 - 2:00 amTo put my rating in perspective, I came out of 3 yrs in a BMW 535, and 3 yrs in a 540. This car is a very pleasant surprise. Very nice response from the twin turbo-kicked engine. Optional sport package suspension w/ 17" wheels and Dunlop 9090s provides excellent road handling in the twisties. Looking forward to the Quattro here in Minnesota. If the BMWs were "10/10ths", this 2.7T is 8.5/10ths, and for the money, Ill take it.
